Hello all!!
i have been on this MFP for a week and have lost 7 pounds. I love this because it is so easy. I have allot of weight to lose but trying to make small goals. I know healthy foods. The problem I am having is I can never eat all of my calories. i know I am not getting enough calcium. When I log my food in no time I have used up all my protein and sugar;s. there isn't that much food that you can eat without adding in these categories. Like I wanted a FAGE yogurt but the protein is to high. I have run in all categories except
protein and sugar. I am doing something wrong.
Please someone help
Thanks

I've had lap band surgery and have lost 55lbs so far. My doctor swears by a low calorie high protein diet. I'm on a strict 1000cal, 60-70g protein diet. It's a little bit harder to get the calories in, but I'm on 2 protein shakes a day, 3 if I get hungry, and one sensible meal that averages 300-400 calories. Make sure you're taking a multi-vitamin and a calcium supplement if you're worried about malnutrition. Otherwise, always remember low calorie, high protein.0

1) Why are you worried about getting too much protein? Unless it's crazy high (can't see your diary), it's not a concern.
2) Unless you are diabetic or pre-diabetic, I woulnd't worry a lot about the sugar either.

At Kroger, they have a supplement that has calcium, magnesium and zinc, it's called Bone Health. I take two a day and that helps me. I started taking it as soon as I started working out again. It's very hard to get enough calcium (especially for a woman) from food alone. With the added magnesium and zinc, it really helps, plus the zinc is an immunity boost. More zinc helps you fight off possible infections.
Unless you have specific dietary needs, more protein is actually going to help you feel full and maintain muscle during your calorie deficit. Unless told by your doctor, I would not worry about avoiding it. I try to get as much protein as possible.
Good luck, and GREAT JOB losing 7lbs already. It took me over a year to get off of the vicious cycle of losing/gaining the same 5lbs. It sounds like you're starting to get a good idea what works for your body and you are making some great, positive changes that will only help you in the future. Remember, take care of yourself first - you can't take care of anyone else unless you take care of yourself0 -

protein is good for you. MFP is very low in relation to what it ought to be.0

Thanks for the support. My diary is open. The reason why I was limiting my protein was because that's what the MFL said. They said I needed 48. gm. Well most meats are high 20-30's gms. Even milk. I don't quite get when they make such a good web site why the values should be off.
Appreciate your input.0
