After working on my feet all day

How do I find the energy to exercise when I get home? I can barely walk when I finish my shift and a lot of time have blisters on the sides of my feet. There are days it hurts to just be on the at work and it takes all I have to survive. Is there any way to exercise without killing my feet even more?

How about swimming?0

How about exercising in the morning prior to work? As for your blisters, maybe a change in shoes?0

Maybe you're active enough if you're on your feet all day?0

Oh, sweetie, I think you need new socks/shoes! I've worked on my feet all day and never got blisters. In the meantime, you can cover the places that rub with moleskin to help. I wouldnt worry about working out until you feel better and your poor feet are healed. If you really want to, try something like a stationary bike.0

That's what I was thinking. What have you been doing so far? It looks like you've been losing. Maybe at this point, you should just be tracking your intake and see how that goes.0 -
I alternate different shoes (although I do need to get a new pair), my big problem is I walk more on the inside of my feet which causes blisters if I walk a lot. I'm a RN in radiology so I am always moving when I am at work and I am on my feet 7 out of 8 hours during the weekdays. I'm just needing to do something to help build up my endurance to walking up, like up stairs and hills. I'd like to go on vacation this year and not have to stop after walking up an incline for a few minutes to catch my breath. With the weather warming up like it has been I might get our pool up and running sooner which will help. Thanks everyone for responding, I love the support on here.0

I tend to walk on the insides of my feet too. When I started exercising as part of my weight loss, I bought a light hiking shoe that prevents me from doing so. It might be something worth looking into for you. The ones I purchase are by Merrill and they are called Avian Light. The one drawback to them is that they do not come in white, which I know can be a problem for nurses with stricter dress codes.
Nurses have such a challenging role! I think maybe good nutrition for now and then exercise later in your journey if you are feeling better is the ticket!0 -
So sorry to hear about your poor feet!
Maybe you could do Pilates or Yoga. There are many good DVD's out there and you'll feel so much better.0 -
I get up 30 mins early and lift weights 3 times a week.
Its much easier and I feel amazing all day long.
Check out SKLZ Chrome for easy to use equipment thats easy to store.
You get up!
Have some coffee!
Pick things up and put them down!
Then go to work!
