a small nsv

I have been losing weight for about 2 months now...I am down about 20lbs since my heaviest (joined MFP less than a month ago)...I have been kind of disappointed because not a lot of people have really noticed...I know I'm heavy, but I do think I look a little different. My parents haven't even said anything. It doesn't stop me from working hard and eating right, but it's nice to have people see what you see as well.
I went into work the other night and I ran into a friend that I haven't seen in a few months...She told me that she couldn't believe how good I looked and asked me how much weight I had lost. I haven't really announced that I was actively trying to lose weight, so it was nice for her to say that.

Yeah, I had the same thing happen. I started in Jan this year and lost 10 pounds, but it looks like more (to me) because I have been exercising so much at the gym and I have lost six inches in my waist and hips. (three off hips and three off waist). None of the people who see me on a daily basis have noticed, but I saw someone the other day who I haven't seen since Nov, and he noticed right away! He said I lost a lot of weight and I look really great! It really made me feel amazing, like it DOES show, just not to people who are around me every day.0

I am glad your friend noticed...it's a good feeling when people notice, it's an added boost of motivation!0

Fantastic! It's hard to notice when you see someone everyday. It happened to me a lot where the people I saw everyday didn't notice and the people I hadn't seen in a while noticed bit time! Hang in there and people will start to notice..0

Some people aren't as observant as others. But if you keep going on this path, they WILL notice, and SOON.
Like you, I haven't told a lot of people that I was actively trying to lose weight. And it wasn't until I'd gotten close to 30 pounds lost that people have started to see it, and only then because I had to go buy new jeans because my old pairs were falling off me.
Congratulations on 20 pounds in 2 months!0 -

Isn't it great when people notice? It makes you feel that much better!
Had the same exact thing happen to me last weekend. I see a portion of my mother's family fairly often, which is to say about 2 or 3 times a month, more if it's someone's birthday or a holiday. One aunt had seen me twice since I started losing, once when I just barely showed it and again last Saturday and I knew I was showing weight loss (face was thinner, stomach not as prominent, etc) but didn't seem to notice. My other, older aunt I barely see because she tends to spend more time with other parts of the family that my mother and I don't know well or don't like. There was a parade last Sunday and she was there and later that evening she called my mother and said, "I didn't want to ask and seem rude, but is Sara losing weight?" My mother said yes. "It's really showing. She's looking good." Made me feel good since this is a woman who doesn't generally bother with me, case in point the fact she bought me a can opener for my 19th birthday when I don't even eat stuff that's canned.0
