Drinking Water

Never been a big water drinker, preferring tea and decaf coffee. I am trying to drink more, but find it really makes me feel bloated and heavy drinking lots of the stuff.

I want to ask, do fruit teas count as water, given they are just water with fruit and herb extracts? Or does it have to be pure, unadulterated water?

Replies

  • Tea, coffe, fruit drinks all count. Someone will doubtless come on and say that it must be pure water but that is just not true.

Drink what you like, it all counts :)

Thanks for the reply, I don't think I could manage 8 glasses of water on top of my 3 teas and 2 coffees, lol. I would be afloat.

teas count -though be aware that fruit teas can be quite acidic and damage your tooth enamel - worth drinking more herbal teas instead!

From what I've read, no caffeinated teas (so herbal is fine), no coffee or juices.
I'm a purist, though, so I generally only count plain water.
What has really helped for me, though, is buying a Brita filter water bottle. It seems easier to drink water when it's out of a sports bottle. I honestly cannot stand water but make myself.
    Good luck to you!!! :)

Personally I only count water. I was dehydrated last month and it really messed me up for awhile. My doc said I need atleast 8 glasses of water a day, so I drink 8 glasses of pure water and anything else I drink is just extra. I felt like a fish for awhile and was constantly running to the rest room but I've gotten used to it now. Drinking from a straw made all the difference for me.

    Oh, and I hate water.

Glad to see I am not the only one who struggles to drink water. I do find it easier from a bottle than a large glass.
I tend to use a pint glass so do not know if that counts as two glasses since it is about 550ml per glass.

I think the closer to water, the better. Caffeinated beverages actually dehydrate you.

personally, I like my water super cold...and I like to use a big water bottle. For me, it is easier to say " I only need to drink 3 of these a day" than " I need to drink 9 glasses". My favorite thing to drink out of is a 23.7oz sports bottle. To get 64 ounces in, I only need to drink 3 a day. I drink the first one at the Y while I am on the treadmill, then refill it at the water fountain and try to finish it before mid-afternoon...then try to get another one in before the end of dinner. Also, if you have a water bottle close at hand, you'll find yourself grabbing it without thinking.

another thing...when I am sick of plain water, I make lemonade or something like that with the drink mix in the little tubes, or there is Mio water "enhancer" in a bunch of different flavors.

Yeah the above, but there are hundreds different types most UK supermarkets carry a wide range. I really like the Pukka brand.
