Advice!!! Goal Weight??

I'm hoping someone can help with some advice as to what goal weight I should be aiming for - it can get confusing!!!
In my mind when I decided to take action I chose 60kg (132.3lbs) as my goal weight. I am 175 cms tall (5foot8 - I think!) and currently weigh 73.7kg (162.5lbs). I have told a few close family/friends my goal weight and they think it's too little.

well according the the goal weight calculator at fat 2 fit radio, 18.2% puts you in the too little body fat percentage so you are probably right there.
but i calculated it if you wanted to just drop your body fat percentage just a bit more and it suggested 156
so yes 132 is probably to low, especially at 5'8"
maybe it is time to just focus on rescuplting? do some strength training (weight lifting) and not focus on the pounds so much.0 -
if you have lean body mass of 133 pounds, losing weight to 132 pounds is too little. That would mean you would start losing muscle. A healthy body fat % for women is like 8-12%0

these calculators are based on averages and whilst they are a nice guide you can't really assume they will work for you or be a true healthy weight for each individual etc. I like to look at the different ways of calculating a goal weight, take a number somewhere in that range that also meets my expectations of how much I think I'd be happy losing, and then still treat that number as just that, a number. It is more about your shape and how you feel when you get there - it is great to have a goal so you can see it getting closer and have mini goals etc but you won't know what is good for you until you get there and decide if it needs adjusting or not.
Alternately perhaps go to a gym and stand on one of their cool scales that tells you your fat% etc - this would be more accurate than the estimations based on measurements etc.
I am 161cm and aiming for 55-60kgs... at a guess I would say 60 probably is a bit light for 175cms but it depends on your build

If your body fat % is 18%, you are very lean for a woman...recommended % for women is 20-25%. Some women would be very jealous of you Just the generic recommendation for someone your height would be 140lbs. (100 lbs for 5 ft + 5lbs for every inch over). Everyone's composition is different. You can't go just by the number on the scale. Things to consider are body fat %, BMI, waist to hip ratio, weight, etc. Based on your measurements, you seem to have a smaller frame, so you could be an individual who is on the lower end of the weight range. I agree that 133 is probably a bit low, especially with your body fat %...you may find hitting that goal weight challenging and difficult to maintain. There is no reason to sacrifice you health over a number :0)

Thanks for the responses! I agree I think my initial goal may have been very ambitious. It really was a number I plucked out of thin air.
I have a feeling the body fat % is not accurate or perhaps I have to adjust how I see myself. There's probably a little bit of both going on here. I'm not sure if I do have a small frame - I've always thought of myself as "bigger". I do have little wrists though.
I'm going to change my goal weight and agree that I need to be focusing more on shape and fitness goals. Thanks for your help : )0
