Brittle nails with improved diet?

Happy Sunday y'all
I have a really clean diet these days compared to say, 5 months ago. Not perfect by any means, but I eat way more fruit now and lots of green leafy veg. Never really had a lot of refined carbs (much prefer wholegrain anyway) and I eat salmon twice a week, very little red meat etc. Often snack on nuts and houmous, and my deficit isn't big at all.
So why have my previously quite strong nails become brittle and flaky the past month or so? Anyone else had this?

I'd say I eat more protein and fat than I did, could be a vitamin D thing though I spose. I prescribe myself a Carribean holiday! Yeah right0
