Can the 17 Day Diet be tweaked?

I'm currently on the 17 Day Diet, cycle one...and it is only day 2. I was looking at the recipes and there are some things I really don't like such as soup. Can I substitute this for another meal, just say it is lunch...can I look back at a different day and use the same lunch?
I really want to give this thing a good go and do it right but I hate making soup and I'm not a fan of it at all. If I can change it for tuna with salad again without it affecting the results than that would be great.

    I actually lost 45 pounds on the 17 Day Diet and it worked really well for me. It taught me portion control and which foods work well for me. If I found a recipe on the 17 Day Diet I would eat it frequently. For example, my husband and I love the recipe for eggplant parmesan and we would make it a couple of times each week. I think the menus in the book are examples and that you can tweak your daily meals to what works for you.
