I don't have a lot to lose BUT..

... that doesn't make my acheivements any less important.
I've noticed with both my friends and here on MFP that I get less support because I have less to lose. There are people who have a lot to lose and are changing their lifestyles and getting healthy and I see so much support for them. Encouragement, pats on the back, comments about how great they look, etc. And I fully support that. They ARE doing a great job and it SHOULD be recognized.
However, I've been eating healthier, working my tail off doing exercises I never in a million years would've thought myself capable of, losing inches, toning up. I'm really proud of myself, and I can see there are big time differences in the way I look. Where's MY love?
Even my core group of friends is silent on the matter. I've even seen them looking me up and down.. with a not-so-nice look on their faces. And that's it. No "You look great." or "I'm so proud of you for working as hard as you are." I, on the other hand, have always been a cheerleader for them when they have tried to get in shape. So, what gives?
I guess the point of my rant is this: Getting fit and healthy is difficult for everyone, no matter what size they started. And while I'm my own cheerleader, I freely admit to being disappointed when my friends notice the results of my efforts, but don't feel like they need to be supportive or congratulate me on my acheivements.

You have lost more than half of your goal, that's pretty awesome. The last pounds are the hardest so you work hard too.
Every single person that takes their health seriously deserves to know how awesome they are. Yes, that includes you :flowerforyou:0 -
I have a lot of respect for those trying to cut out the last few lbs, maybe more so than those losing a lot... but I still respect everyone looking to improve their lives. I can only imagine how cutting those last few lbs can be extremely difficult. Hopefully I'll be there soon.
Good luck.0 -
I agree that you deserve support, encouragement and congratulations on your successes, but I'm guessing that people either feel threatened by your success, or are jealous of it. I know *I* am jealous that you don't have a significant amount of weight to lose, but that's a *ME* problem, not a *YOU* problem, and therefore I should be an adult about the situation and congratulate, support and encourage you.
Which, I do. I think your achievements are wonderful, I see on your profile you only have 7lbs to go until goal! That's awesome! Maybe post some pictures to the success stories threads, and people will be more forthcoming with praise.
Good luck on the rest of your journey0 -

Thanks y'all! (LOL.. I'm still a Southern girl at heart even though I haven't lived in the South for 15 years!) I really appreciate your support. I saw some of my closest friends today for the first time in months and was really hurt that not one of them commented to me on my "lifestlye change" results. Your support really does make me feel better!0

I have experienced this as well. I get told that I need to be quiet because I look fine the way I am or that they wish they looked the way I do. Well I feel uncomfortable and I weigh more than I want to so why not cheer me on when I try to make changes in my life? After all isn't it better to nip the problem in the bud as opposed to waiting until it has become a several hundred pound issue?0

Well done you! I only started making proper changes last week to my fitness and diet.
I'm 5"4 and a size 10-12 but have a horrible un toned body and am so unfit it's
Ridiculous! It's not all about size......
I need to get fit (for my job and my dogs) and stop drinking wine every day and eating junk food as part
Of every meal.
People at work laugh at me when I say I'm on here but I need support and ideas from everyone who is in the same boat as me - eating healthier and trying to get fit IRRESPECTIVE of the amount of weight you need to shed.0
