I can not do crunches. My neck always hurts. I actually seen a trainer a few years ago at the gym, she said I was doing them completely correct and couldn't figure out why my neck hurt. So she said to do leg lifts. Actually an exercise where I passed a huge exercise ball back and forth from my feet to my hands.
Anyways, in level one there's a lot of different crunches. I'm wondering if I'd still get the same benefits if I did planks, or dolphin moves instead?
Where I'm on my forearms and toes, body straight, raising and lowering.

And also, does the pain ease at all? I've been in so much leg pain. I know it's good. I can at least walk up and down the stairs with out looking like I'm 9 months pregnant. But my legs still hurt so bad during the workouts. Since you keep moving up in levels, will my legs hurt the entire 30 days? ( longer since I do it every second day usually.)
  • bump i wanna know too. i have the same issues...

Do planks!! In levels two and three you do a lot of planks so it would be good to get a head start.
Oh, and the leg pain eases up after 3 or 4 days, then the arm pain begins. Actually then it comes back at the beginning of the next two levels as well  BUT if it is any consolation, I went for a long run on Saturday for the first time in 2 months and haven't had sore legs from it at all!! Jillian must have made my legs super strong!

Ok so I did a holding plank for the first set of crunches. Moving dolphin (plank) for the second set. And side planks for the 3rd set. Felt like a better work out and my neck is great!

I just finished level 1 of the shred tonight (on to level 2 tomorrow!), but I had to take day 3 of my workout off because my legs were SO RIDICULOUSLY SORE I could barely walk! I'm talkin' limping and legs coming out from under me sore. ALL DAY. It sucked. I had the same question with regards to the soreness. I asked if it would go away and when. My soreness went away after about day 5, but I was able to function fine and continue my workout on day 4. I hear I'll be sore all over again starting the new level but I'm hoping it wont be as bad this time around since I'm much more limber and my stamina and strength are already way up in just the ten days.
