I have been dieting since December, doing Jillian Michale's Ripped in 30 For 3 weeks now. Im not getting results as fast as I would like them and I am thinking about starting to lift. Any other females out there who are lifting that can give me any advice/work out plans/focus areas/how many calories should I go up to (only eating about 1200-1300 now but I know I need to up them). Any advice or before and after pics from just lifting would be much appreciated!!!

i'm interested in this as well
I am also doing RI30, and Shred it with weights, for now since I can't afford a gym membership at the moment, i've just been slowly upping the weights I use for these DVDs.0 -

I'm still just doing Jillian dvds at home (currently mostly doing Ripped in 30), I'm up to using anywhere from 5-15 lbs depending on the exercise (I like the 15's for the deadlifts but really think I need to go buy some 20's, also like the 15's for my 'renegade rows'). I'm hoping to get a couple of larger sets of dumbbells to use at home and also to join a gym within the next month or two so I can start barbell training. Kind of terrified since I'll have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm feeling the 'itch'.0

I was in the exact same place as you. I started out doing the 30 Day Shred, then Ripped in 30, then Insanity. I decided I wanted to start lifting so I ordered the NROL4W. It's a great book and will help you figure out how many calories you should be eating. The program consists of 7 stages and it provides the workouts for you in the book. It also has lots of great recipes.0

I love lifting weights! I noticed the biggest change in my body after I started lifting heavier weights.
I'm currently doing ChaLean Extreme and can't recommend it enough.0 -

I have never heard of that one before. I just looked it up. I've always been extremely intimidated by all of the beach body systems!0 -
In order to build muscle mass you have to be eating at a calorie surplus. All of JM's videos MAINTAIN muscle mass while burning fat.
In order to get big strong muscles you are going to need to eat more (try 2000 a day) and lifting heavy.
Pick up a copy of The New Rules of Lifting for Women.0 -
Im about half way through reading New Rules for Lifting and so far I am feeling really positive about it and its really changing the way I view fitness and making me feel dumb about not believing people when they told me I need to eat more and start lifting! Thank you guys for the awesome tip!0
