Salad tips

Just wanted to share this tip with my fellow dieters. Many of you may know this and do it but I realize some of you may not. When I buy lettuce for salads, I chop the whole head of lettuce after washing it. I use only what I need for a salad at that time. The remainder of the lettuce is put into a zip loc bag with a cup or so of cold water and placed in the refrigerator. This lettuce will stay so fresh and crisp for several days. All you have to do is change out the water daily. I usually open one corner of the zip bag and let the water out. I add more water and then let that out of the bag to rinse it. Then I add about a cup or so of water back into the lettuce and pop it back into the fridge. I used to own a restaurant and this is how we kept our lettuce fresh for several days at a time. I hope some of you can use this trick. Sure cuts time making salads and the lettuce to me seems crisper than when I cut it up the first day. Enjoy.

Great tip. I also want to add that if your lettuce wilts - put it overnight in the refridgerator in a container of cold water - usually it has just dehydrated. So, same principle.0
