Why do people drink protein shake? Would a fat person trying to build muscle or lose weight get the same results compared to a person drinking protein shake.

As I'm drinking one now.... lol. I drink them for a few reasons:

    1) After my workout, it helps my muscles recover faster
    2) It helps lift my intake of protein for the day
    3) If in a pinch, I can add more things to my shake, along with the protein and use as a meal. It can be a very filling way to get your nurients if on the go

I think no matter what size someone is, protein shakes can help curb a stong appetite and if working out, will help with recovery.

Why I drank protein shakes when I lifted weights:

    - Huge amount of protein in a very quick and easy form. I would have to eat like 2 chicken breasts to get that much protein, which is NOT something I feel like doing after the gym
    - The brand I bought had 'complete' proteins, ideal for muscle recovery
    - Saves time

Why I drink protein shakes now that I can't lift weights:

    - Quick meal super high in protein
    - Delicious lol

There is NOTHING special about protein shakes. You could get your protein from other dairy or meat products, it is not a magical weight loss/muscle building food. If I have to eat 120g of protein a day, you can bet I'll get 50-60g over and done with in one shake.

There are good for weight loss in the sense that protein is great for weight loss. Protein has only 3.2 net calories per gram, it makes you full, and it helps preserve muscle mass. Protein shakes are also very low carb for things that taste like chocolate milk :b

Does that answer your questions? :)

If you do a protein shake in the morning as part of your 1st meal, it helps curb appetite throughout the day.

^ Exactly, protein shakes a supplement to supplement your daily intake if you cannot get enough protein though whole foods. They don't do anything special

    I like this particular protein.

I always get vanilla as you can bulk up your shake with a scoop of fiber and some frozen fruit of your choice. frozen will make the shake a little thicker as its blended. I also like to mix with unsweetened coconut milk.

    Enjoy what ever you use.

first your being a bit rude talking about " fat people" were here to suport people not label them. fat is not protein first of all. There are alot of differnt reason for drinking them. That may be all they are drinking or suplimenting a meal or is there only meal after surgery for a long time.. There is nothing magical about them just finding the kind you like that works with your body and drinking them.
