Late night munchies...

So packing food for the day I noticed I didn't pack enough for work and school. and even after a night snack still over 100 calories short, and no I am not going to stuff myself before bed.
Having to pack for the full day is a lot, and I work 10 hours a day and college student at night till November. So dinner, well I wouldn't call it dinner...
So advice to eat more filling food during the day, and what are some healthy good night snacks when I come home from class.
Thanks.
Ash

I try hard to eat unprocessed, non/low fat, high protein, dietary fiber. Veggies and fruit are great for that and pack/keep well (e.g. Large Fuji -50 cal, 12" celery stalk - 9 cal). Nonfat dairy is good for protein and lean meat are also good. My favorite snack is nonfat vanilla yogurt mixed with nonfat cottage cheese with pineapple and sprinkle a table spoon of oat bran for dietary fiber and more protein (about 320 cal), nonfat Greek yogurt is another good choice (140 cal), or nonfat yogurt (80 cal for Dannon Light & Fit 6 oz).
When I am watching calorie intake, I dont like to be hungry and I am not so much when I avoid the empty calories that I crave (chips, bread, etc).
Good luck you have a tough schedule but I like the fact that you plan for the day. Knowledge of the plan itself is a good tool it seems to me. Good work!0 -
I always get the late night munchies. But, I also have a tendency to work out at night, too. I bought a protein/weight loss bar called Attain. I purchased it in my favorite flavor - peanut butter with chocolate on the outside. Yum. The bar is 160 calories, so in the evening/night, and especially after I have worked out, I open a bar, cut it in half, and save one of the halves for later. I eat one half pretty slowly over time, while I drink water and watch TV. Then, after I have had the half bar and drank some water, I see if I am still hungry. Usually I am not. So, I've only eaten 80 calories and had my chocolate munchies fix. If I want something salty, I seem to go for cheeze itz. I measure them out in a little bowl. Sometimes I will make sure to save enough calories to have two servings. So far I have still lost weight, even when snacking0

now speaking of chips and really reading labels. I found a bag of chips..... 120 calories for 28g of chips so about 12 chips. so I did the math and it didn't come out to 12 chips to 28g more like 28 chips. ans I don't need to eat all that. what label do I believe? !?!?!0

Did the bag also say that it contained two servings?0 -
I get home from work most night at 1230 a.m. I'm usually under control but every few weeks I give in. I have a saying called eat light at night. When I just can hang..I eat prepacked amonds from Trader Joe's and a box of mini raisins and a rice cake. All have little to know fat. Try to avoid chips of any sort. Oh also yogurt and a granola bar might stave off your hunger pains.0
