carbs and i have a love hate relationship... i love to eat them, and i hate to go over them... i fail terribly everyday with carbs... I'm good at everything else but carbs is my go to food... everything i eat has carbs in them.

I am interested to see what other people think about this... if you stay under everything else how much does it matter about going over the carbs... and how much is really too much?

Too much anything is bad for you!

I would hardly call MFP's daily amounts too much though. Just make sure you are not coming way under on other areas and going over on empty carbs.

The pie chart isn't the most accurate!

What's your daily goal in terms of grams of carbs?

There's a range of opinions, and it is something that varies from body to body - many people find that some sort of restriction (eg under 150, under 100, under 80, whatever) per day helps them to lose weight. Other people find that they get grumpy and irritable without a decent amount of carbs, and it doesn't affect their progress. ( I'm ignoring here the Atkins/ ketosis VERY low carb regimes.)

So ignore the pie chart, and do a bit of experimenting to see what works for you as an individual.

    Good luck!

I've found that if I hit them or go a bit over, my workouts go longer and more intense. You just have to experiment and do what works for you. If you can lose weight by being high on carbs, more power to you.

It depends with the person. My diet is mainly carbs, i just love them and I have weight steadily on such a diet. Well fir me its just low calorie diet and 60% of my food is carbs.

same here I have never been able to keep under my carb levels.. though I am usually under my calories... m thinking of adding more proteins... but then i think It must not be harming that much I was a big time potato lover (still am but i keep it for a day in a week).. i am still eating lower than i used to... my metabolism must b brainstorming over the energy it has without the previous levels of carbs...

There is no bad reason for going over, as long as they are good carbs. It really is a balance between - energy for workouts/which builds muscle & reduced intake for weight loss, accepting that this may leave you depleted of energy & therefore not pushing/burning as much in your workouts.

For me, I need carbs, I discovered a few years ago that if I don't eat regularly I become quite moody:mad:

Looking at your diary, you don't seem to be tracking carbs there - that would give you a more reliable source of information than the pie cahrt.

But I can see you have cereal for breakfast, bread for lunch and rice or potatoes for dinner, so that's where most of your carbs are coming from. The other thing that sticks out is the amount of snickers bars you're eating, lol!
