Hey,
I am looking for anyone who has experience with trying to lose weight on anti-psychotic medication. I am currently on this medication and I have gained over 40 pounds since I started taking it. I have found that it is making weight loss nearly impossible.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of medication? Any advice?

Thanks!

I have never been on the medication that you have been on but I am on high doses of prednisone for my Lupus on and off. The first time I was on prednisone it made me gain 30 pounds in a month and a half. The only thing my doctor recommended was to watch what I eat more carefully which I did and that helped. I stuck mostly to veggies and protein and some fruits. I stayed away from the bad carbs. Good luck and I hope you figure out a solution.
  • I feel you. I had a course of steroids a couple of months back that made me put on around 7lbs; I'm not entirely sure since I know I weighed more than I thought when I started, but it was somewhere around that.

Most advice is to watch what you eat, because that tends to be the culprit. I don't think I gained as much as others on steroids because I actually felt less hungry when I was on them, but that went hand in hand with not being well.

I hope you find something that works for you, if not, talk to your doctor, and ask for advice.

    Good luck!
