Hello everyone!
I recently went for an annual physical and the Dr said that I need to lose weight (6'-2" 259.bs) because my sugars are slightly elevated and my Cholesteral is bad. Anywho, He told me to have an intake of 1700 calories a day. I have set a personal goal of losing 44 lbs. I have pretty much figured out that if I cut out pizza, cheeseburgers (used to eat alot of them) and breakfast meats, I have no problems keeping it under 1700 calories. Does this seem right? It appears a lot easier than I thought it would be.
Also, I love beer. When working in the yard , fishing or playing golf, I crave beer! Is it ok to drink beer as long as I keep my calories in check and drink my 8 cups of water?
Anyway, this appears to be a great website. Not only has it got me in check, but my wife and daughter have jumped on board and it is more of a family affair as opposed to a lonesome journey.
Any tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Personally, I am not a fan of 'cutting out' anything. For some people it works great... for me not so much. It has taken me months to lose 26.5 pounds but I didn't cut out anything. Some days I have to make choices between something I WANT and something that is healthier but there are plenty of occasions that I eat pizza, cheese burgers, cake, whatever. It may be a good idea to stay away from those items if you CANNOT control yourself, but it isn't like you are NEVER going to eat them again so I believe it is best to try to start by trying to portion control them. You don't want to lose 100 pounds only to find that once you start with the 'taboo' foods again it all comes back. Beer in moderation as well. Just remember to count it. Water is super important definately! You can do this. You know you can. With the help of your family and MFP it really won't be so hard! Go for it! Add me as a friend if you like :flowerforyou:0

I get what you are saying. I don't necessarily eat the bad stuff because I crave but more of a convenience issue. It's not easy to always eat healthy. Thanks for your help.0

That I completely understand!!! Convenience store pizza and fast food is definately easier to obtain for sure! Good luck to you :flowerforyou:0

Try to plan your daily meals a day or two or three in advance if you can.0
