I almost feel like the food database is too big.

I've been trying to get back on board. I've been a member for a couple of years and the database was very good, but now I notice when I search for a particular thing in the food database, many many things come up for one item and many of them or wrong. I find this very frustrating and time consuming when I'm searching for something simple. I am finding it very difficult to accurately track my calories unless I'm eating something prepackaged.

I think it's very easy to find what I'm looking for BECAUSE there are so many entries. You can make your own entries and recipes too... Which might help you

i think MFP needs to go and clean out duplicate entries in the database.

I wish there was a separate database for raw ingredients. It's hard to add something like a whole eggplant when you have to sift through dozens of entries for eggplant parmesean.

I agree with you completely it is difficult to enter ingredients for a recipe I just add raw after ingredients I do not use packaged food but when you want to add a generic thing when you do not want to spend time on creating recipe. I still suggest make your own recipe... but if you eat out ... you need to follow the closest option you think you ate.

When I first started, I had to add in most of my food items because the database was so small. A year later, I haven't had to add anything in months because it seems like it's all there now - even the obscure, exotic stuff. It's more convenient than having to put stuff in myself, but yes, I have noticed a lot of garbage entries you have to wade through to find what you're looking for...Not sure what the solution is.

I agree, there are way too many entries now. try entering a simple tomato slice. I think it should at least start with the most simple at the top of the list, say you enter in a veg it brings up the generic standard of that veg to start for easy finding.
