Well, I'm on week two of my work out plan. and figured the only way I'm going to meet any of my goals is to do it right, eating right. still not exactly sure what to and what not to eat, but have learned alot by reading threads and browsing the site. I'm new so any suggestions and motivational speaches are welcome...

Welcome
this is a great place to start. There are some posts that were very helpful to me I will boost them to the top of the boards. :bigsmile:0 -
Oh this is THE place to be if you want to educate yourself on proper nutrition! I have learned so much since I've been here.
First the Food Diary is a great resource. When you put in there what you eat and see how much everything 'costs' and what nutrients you're missing and what you're getting too much of you it begins to change how you eat.
Then the Community Forums are a fantastic resource! Read the newbie posts that are stickied at the top, they are full of food fundamental information to help get you started.
Glad you're here!0 -
Thanks, look forward to reading them...i thought the working out was the hard part, that's the easy part. and of course the part that really makes the difference "eating right" is so hard. thought it would be the other way around...0

the eating right is hard... at first. It is amazing, though, what you can teach yourself, and how after a few short months what you thought was so hard becomes much easier and almost second nature. Where was this site 10 years ago! LOL good luck to you!0

I agree... Then you find getting full faster.. I use to eat a lot and now my portions are medium sized..0

The eating has been tough for me as well. I did not realize how many calories were in foods that I ate all the time. I find giving yourself a reward every now and then helps to keep from over doing it. I just make sure I get a little extra work out in. I have been away from this sight for a couple of months and ended up gaining a few pounds back, but the best part is forgiving myself and to keep going. I am already loosing pounds again. I have learned that I still need to log my food to keep me on track. and the great people I have met here.0

For me, I am three days in and I have been reaching my calorie needs everyday. But I always have the biggest calorie intake at dinner. Is that a good or a bad thing? Should I distribute my calorie intake evenly throughout the day? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I eat most of my calories for dinner as well and it has not hurt me at all. I get home late and by the time I get to eat dinner it is 8PM. But I make sure I eat lots of veggies too. :bigsmile:0

What a great photo of you and your son! :flowerforyou:
My advice is 3-fold
1) No more excuses - be honest to yourself about the choices you make
2) Have a great support system -- friends, family and MFP. Tell them what you hope to achieve and ask them support and encourage you.
3) Education -- do reserach to learn about nutrirtion and exercise. There are so many good resources available online, including some really knowledgable people here on MFP.
Good luck :happy:0 -
