Water...flavored or unflavored?

I was wondering if drinking flavored water, such as fruit 2 o is as good as drinking plain water? I really have a hard time drinking unflavored water. My drinks of choice are coffee with nutrasweet and bottled diet green tea. Does drinking these count towards water intake? Thanks!

I have problem with water too and I don't like artificial sweeteners. I find a pitcher of water with added fresh lemon slices or even a squirt or two of fruit juice (just enough to add a tiny flavor) works best for me. sometimes I switch it up and add lime instead.

I use the 5 calories gatorade propel drink packets and pour into water.

You are going to get all different opinions on here. The answer is it depends as to who you want to listen to.

Weight watchers says to drink fluids - doesn't have to be water. People will argue that caffeinated and carbonated beverages don't count. Maybe they do - maybe they don't. I think you have to do what's best for you.

I personally have better weight loss, skin and energy when I drink at least 64 ounces of water (I usually double that). I do it by putting one crystal light (I actually like the target brand best) per 32 ounces (or if I have them on hand, fresh lemon or lime instead). If the packet says it has calories, I track the calories. If it doesn't, I don't. I put in the flavor because when I don't, I drink less water. I figure a gallon of water with 4 flavor pouches is better than 32 ounces of plain water with no flavor.

My nutritionist(s) said there is nothing wrong with the flavor packets especially if you drink more water because of them.

Plain water is best. That's all I drink.

The more plain water you drink the better it tastes. I went from drinking no water and seriously like 6-7 diet cokes a day to drinking water and coffee. I can't drink coffee without water anymore. I also quit putting sweetener in my coffee and only using 1 tbsp of creamer per cup. My main reasoning was also trying to get as far away from aspartame as I could, but water and coffee are so much more enjoyable now that I can actually taste their natural flavors.

Woohoo! I was just guessing, but good to know I'm a good guesser :)
  • Nothing beats plain water, but there is nothing wrong with flavor packets if that is what gets to to drink the most water! I would switch it up :]

I am killing that new MiO water enhancer. So good. And it makes my water sooooo pretty
  • I too went from a no water person (usually milk with some lemonade thrown in to mix it up) to a plain water person. I drink around 100 oz of water daily all of it plain. I started with lemon in it and moved to just plain. Funny, now I always go for the water.

Thank you all for your thoughts! I did buy some MiO for my water, and I love it! As for the sweetener in my coffee.....not ready to give that up! I did stop using cream years ago though :-)
  • When I gave up soda for good I needed a substitute when I didn't want plain water, and i am not a fan of artificial sweeteners. I found TRUE LEMON at wal-mart and this is AMAZING. It is crystallized citrus and it has no added sweeteners at all. They also make a Lime and Orange flavor that i haven't tried yet, but ordered online here: http://www.truelemonstore.com/ TRY IT you will love it!! :)
