Staying Calm

So anyone that knows me knows that I'm a pretty high strung person. I'm a perfectionist (ironic then that I'm overweight) so I've always had a 4.0 in school and constantly try to out-do myself at work. I am easily stressed but I have found that since I started working out at Kosama for an hour every morning 6 days a week, I'm much more calm. The reason I noticed this is that my friend emailed me today to ask how something was going (my fridge just died, so we have been dealing with getting it replaced) and she said "Wow! I can't believe how calm you are! You are never this calm about something like this!"

Does anyone else become more calm when working out? I don't know if I'm just more tired from getting up 2 hours earlier every day or if I'm just not rushed anymore. I use to jump out of bed fast and rush around to get ready every morning in order to make it to work on time. Now that I have a class from 5:00 am to 6:00 am, I have over an hour to get ready for work so I'm never rushed anymore. I wonder if starting my day like that now makes me more calm for the rest of the day? I guess I'm just curious if anyone else has had the calming effects of exercise?

excersizing for me is a huge stress reliever, sounds wierd but i just feel so relax (or dead..lol) when i'm done. i wake up early too just to start the day right and not feel so stressed!

Well it's nice to know I'm not alone! I thought working out in the morning would make me wired during the day, but it's funny how much it has calmed me!

I've found that getting older has calmed me down a lot. Trust me, 16 years from now, when you're my age, you won't be nearly that high strung anymore. You start understanding that life's too short to get pissed off about trivial crap.
  • The endorphins rushing through your body is what causes that calm feeling right after you work out. It is a wonderful stress reliever, and can last far after you're done working out. I sleep better at night on the days that I exercise too.
