Hi all!

My husband and I are both doing MFP and loving it. My husband is also doing lots of working out these days....

His birthday is next week and I thought I would get him some more exercise items.....he already has one set of "dri-fit" shorts/shirt so I thought about getting him another set. But, any other ideas? Any specific clothing that ya'll have found is nice to have, specific towels, specific water bottles, etc?

He is doing the elliptical and some running at the gym. He plans on doing more weight lifting as time goes on.

If Kab030 is going to start lifting, I would recommend gloves. I use them all the time while lifting. I almost cant lift without them. If he is going to run alot, you could get him a Nike+ sensor. I like using it to track my runs. I dont think it is that expensive ~20 for the sensor and it is integrated with your iphone or ipod.
  • I love my Camelbak water bottle - and how about something like a FitBit? Oh yeah- and whatever you get for him, make sure you treat yourself to something, too! You're in this together, right??

My favorite piece of 'equipment' is my running jacket. But unless he's gonna hit the road, that's not the best idea...
An HRM would be nice. Or a gym bag. Dunno...

Take him to a speciality running store to get properly fitted for the right shoes. They'll analyze his gait and measure him to get the fit. Sludge for some wick away socks, too. The right shoes will make all the difference in the world and the socks are worth their weight in gold.

Agree, a good HRM would be nice, then when he starts lifting he'll have a much better idea of calories burned (I find MFP under-estimates cals burned lifting).

My Dad gave me a pair of Skins compression tights for my last birthday, and I love them. Everything feels all tight and pulled in when I run in them especially.

As for weak knees, my partner also has one weak knee, and the only that really helps is bracing it, so it gets as much support as possible. Depending on how bad it is, you can get knee braces that are just tight fabric, or that have metal or carbon fibre supports down the side, which help prevent lateral (sideways) movement of the knee. Those one are the most supportive, but can feel a bit "heavy" if they are metal...
