Shedding fat is largely a function of diet. As far as training programs, just make sure you're lifting weights such that:

    1) You're lifting heavy.
    2) You're applying progressive resistance (lifts increase over time because you're adding weight to the bar over time)
    3) You're lifting with your entire body over the course of time and not neglecting part of your body.

Diet will dictate your bodyweight. Lifting will influence your body composition (fat vs muscle).

Rep range is subjective but as a very general guideline/starting point, I'd stay in the 6-10 rep range.

Do elliptical for 45 min a day.....

Lifting weights alongside a good solid cardio routine and eating right....you have to have all the pieces in place.

Nope.. That is 100% a myth. You want results, then you lift as heavy as you can.

I've been lifting for over a year now.. Weigh the same as I did 4 yrs ago, yet I'm wearing clothes that are 4 sizes smaller then I was wearing 4 years ago.. so lift, eat a deficit and benefit from the results!
