I started wearing size 12 & 14 and my goal was to get down to 140 and wear size 8 again. Well I am at 134 and size 6. Every time I try on a size 6, I feel like I have to buy it because it fits!! LOL :) Took me a year but so happy I stuck with it!

I just started wearing a size large shirt recently, after being an XL or XXL all my life and I'm getting the same feeling. It's so weird buying a normal size.

I totally understand! I have slid into 14 and am working toward a 9 and buying clothes is becoming more and more fun! I just tell myself I'm only buying what I need until I get back to a size 9. Then watch out world! ha ha

    Congratulations! YOU are an inspiration!

What did you do while you were losing?
I am dropping sizes slowly but surely, and I do not want to buy clothes while I am working towards my goal.
So right now I am wearing size 16 pants and X-Large tops, when I should be at least a 14 pant and a Large top..
But hate to buy an all new work wardrobe over and over again.. WOuld just rather wait until I get to my destination.

I have attachment to some clothes, so I take them to the tailor and get snipped. LoL, My fav pair of jean shorts will stay with me as long as the style can fit all the adjustments.

I would go to a thrift shop, or some kind of marshalls/tjmaxx & just buy a couple things. Dont go crazy because youre going to achieve greater goals, but you've already lost! so no reason not to spoil yourself just a LITTLE bit

OMGosh! I have the exact same problem! I bought 2 pair of jeans, a dress, a jacket, and 2 shirts just last night! I also started at a 14 and am in a 6 now! We totally rock! We deserve to reward ourselves! Thank God my hubby has a great job. We may single handedly boost the economy!

I do get what you are saying. Clothes shopping used to be the worst chore ever. For me, most of the time, it meant looking online for whatever was on clearance in my size. Style, color, or even me caring for it at all were not prerequisites. The only thing that mattered was whether it would fit and cover my body. Now it is an exhilarating sense to have options. I can try on clothes and buy what I like, not just whatever fits!

One word for the in between times - Goodwill! I went from a size 34W to a size 6 and I can tell you that there is no way I could have afforded the clothes that were needed in between had it not been for Goodwill. The plus is that I am wearing better brands than I could have ever afforded and some of the things I have bought still have the original store tags on them. A shirt from J. Jill that had a tag for $69.00 and I paid $6.00 for it - that's my kind of shopping! Most of my outfits now range in price from $6 - $20 dollars (that's dress pants or skirt, blouse, and sweater or vest) and I have been told that I look like I am dressing for an executive position.

Congratulations on your weight loss and enjoy the shopping!

Consignment/resale shops are also great places to check out as well. When I lost weight a few years ago, I would take my larger clothes into the resale shops and then buy smaller clothes. Bonus was a couple weeks later and checking to see if anything was sold and having some extra spending money on new clothes!

thank you all for your comments! :)

I agree to try goodwill and Savers or second hand stores. you can definitely find really nice clothes. right now Kohls has me back almost every other day with their kohls cash and emails with % $ off.. I had to give away every single pair of capris and shorts from last summer so I HAVE to shop.. hehe ok, I love shopping!!

I started off my journey just counting calories and being a little in denial that I needed to lose. But last summer started working out and joined the YMCA. I usually go to either water aerobics or zumba 5 days a week.
My husband started with me and is my inspiration. He has lost over 130 pounds, lifts and runs races now. :) He went from size 3X to a large shirt and 46 pants to 34.
if we can do it anyone can!! :)

hahahaha i feel ya! When I reached my first goal of 145 I had to go get new jeans because my old pre-baby ones that I was trying so hard just to fit back into where too loose! So I went and bought like 5, 6 pairs of size 7 jeans. Only problem now is after about 2 weeks those are starting to get loose, so I'm hoping I can go return/exchange them. I don't think I am gonna go shopping again until I reach my final goal lol.
