Any other Jews out there worried about what to eat on Passover?

I am not Jewish but I say stick with your traditions for religious holidays and don't stress over calories. If you are diligent leading up to and after an 'off' day, the 'off' day doesn't really hurt your progress, it's barely a blip on your body's radar. I went all-out on Thanksgiving and Christmas and it didn't hurt my efforts b/c I stayed in line with my calorie goal before and after. Go ahead and participate in whatever Passover traditions you have planned and don't stress over the food.0

I'm not sure if the person who replied realizes that Passover is an 8 day holiday. :-)
I'm concerned but I think I need to accept that I'm not going to lose during Pesach. HOPEFULLY I don't gain, but honestly, I'm an ashkanazi vegetarian... there's so little that I CAN eat over pesach, that I'll just indulge in all the eggs and matzah candy and and pizza on a matzah and whatnot until I'm so sick of it that I'll WANT to be back on my diet when all is said and done. It's not enough to simply avoid hametz(or carbs) - the commandment is also to eat matzah, right?
What I am going to do is PUSH myself to exercise 8 days in a row (I'm a 3x/week exerciser usually) while I'm eating all this stuff.
At least this is all what I'm telling myself now.. if you have a better plan, I'm all ears0 -
Nope I'm definitely not very familiar with it. LOL. But even with it being 8 days, you can still stick with your traditions but perhaps practice a bit of moderation. You could also think of it as a 'maintenance' week rather than stressing over weightloss, that might help, psychologically at least. :-)0

I'm jewish. It should be a good week for us. No bread and no (regular) chocolate by religious obligation can give a little more motivation. I try to be observant, usually it doesn't last Don't tell my mother0

I don't worry about it. Those days are about something more important to calorie counting to me, I just start up again once it's over.0

Three tips: quinoa, limit to one matzah ball, and remember the halacha "k-zayit" (like an olive) if you have to eat something and it isn't absolutely against your health eat the amount k'zayit (so take a piece of matzah the size of an olive to meet your religious obligation!)0 -
I would say that this sounds like a good period to focus on observing your religious traditions INSTEAD OF your personal traditions. It could be really refreshing and recharging to spend time on your faith and practice humility rather than be irritated about how it's so inconvenient. I mean your people have been doing this for thousands of years! And you've been dieting for, what, a few months?
Just sayin.

It may be a good time to really practice portion control. Eat what you want:flowerforyou: but cut the portions in half. You can eat more of everything that way. Otherwise don't worry about it. Just get back to it after it's over.0

I thought maybe I'd do better on Passover since no pasta and bread (and rice if you are strict)
so lots of fruit, salads and grilled veggies, chicken/fish (tofu or whatever you grill)
forget those macroons and candies...0 -
Thanks everyone! I'm normally not super at keeping Passover but i do my best. I'm thinkin this year I will try to cut down on the matzah and eat a lot of fruit? ha I'm not really sure. I'll definitely have to eat a lot of grilled chicken/fish and salad! That's a great idea!0
