Food database

I'm not sure if this is the correct folder so excuse if it's not. I'm new to this site and was wondering if most people are pleased with the database of foods on here. There is nothing more frustrating then either have to keep adding foods or guesstimating with a so called similar food. I will add foods for the most part when needed since it helps the site in general.

I love the little scan option on my cell phone. I use my computer and my smart phone app to use this site. You just click the barcode button on the app and scan the barcode of the food you're going to partake with the camera on your phone and it shows up! Super fast and easy and accurate. Works on everything/anything with a barcode! :D

Wow, thanks for telling me that. I had no idea the app which I still need to download was capable of that. That is great! Thanks

Yeah it is super cool. It just pops up and you select the portion size and add it to your log! Its a free app too, of course!

I've had the app for months and, for some reason, never noticed this feature! Lol -- so thanks!
  • Barcode def. makes things easier. Eating out at non-chain restaurants is still hard when it comes to calculating calories. Oh well. I just do best guess and hope I UNDERestimated

Sometimes the scan option on my phone brings up a completely different product....which is odd. It doesn't always work for me. I do a lot of guessing and hope for the best.

Yes, non chain restaurants are very hard to track sometimes. I try my best to find like foods in the database and always choose the ones with the most calories figuring it's better to error on the safe side.
