After a couple years of having to give much time to the health and other needs of family members, and a couple other life upheavals, I am finally able to give some time to myself.
I am wanting to get on a regular exercise schedule but motivation seems to be a bit of a problem, though. So, that is what I need to work on first.

Welcome....I wish you much success and congratulations on giving yourself the attention you deserve! I promise you you will find loads of support and I am certain you will learn a lot!
  • I'm new here and I am getting serious about getting in shape, too.
    Tired of being overweight.

I just did my first calorie count - HOLY SMOKES - I ate almost double what I need in a day.
I didn't even think I ate that much!

Do you have any hard rules you are following?

I also do a blog - check it out if you're interested

    Hey everyone!

so I recently decided to do this fitness thing because i downloaded it to my phone and it is quite cool. So i am trying to just tone down a bit. I like to excersise and work out because it is a great way for me to relieve stress rather than going crazy and lashing out at someone! lol

anyways i hope this works to my benefit!

To have success on this program it is a must to have a food journal. This will greatly help in knowing what you have eaten during the day and realize if you are going over calorie goal. I have done this and it really helps...keeps me in check....

I think my problem might be I have a tendency to not eat enough, especially when too much stress comes my way and has been quite high the last couple months, which lowers the metabolism. I find it difficult to eat enough when under stress because during those times my stomach feels knotted and queasy, which probably explains why I am having troubles getting up and going for walks that should help my stress levels at least for a little while.

Now, there is something I just read the other day that is very interesting about increasing the feel good hormone Oxytocin and eating. It seems eating actually raises that hormones level. So, if I could just get past the knotted and queasy feeling in my stomach and eat more maybe I would feel better and give my metabolism a boost.
