Fainting at a gig?

So last night, I went to see INME (pretty awesome) but then I started to feel really dizzy and passed out.. Twice..

This I thought was a little un-normal as I had hardly drank anything and the two episodes were about 2 hours apart from each other.

I called my doc, and apparently its really common.. Combination of getting too hot, being in a crowded room, flashy lights, loud noises but mostly standing up for too long.

I put this on my wall earlier on and a few people have said the same has happened to them.. So I was wondering if anyone else gets this? And if you do, how do you stop it?

As my boyfriend is in a band I go to loads of his gigs and we go to loads of others too.. And its quite embarrasing =/

I've fainted a couple of times and had all kinds of work-ups done, and basically it came down to low blood pressue. So when I know I am going to be in a warm environment or standing for a long time, I drink lots n lots of water and the dr told me to eat
some extra salty foods, followed by fluids, which helps so much. Also be sure to keep your knees bent a little and squeeze your
calves now and then to keep blood from pooling in your legs. Or sit if you can once in awhile. Passing out is scary!

I went to a Deftones concert in July...no drinking of anything but a single bottle of water, a SUPER crowded and hot venue (Tabernacle in Atlanta, if you've heard of it...zero ventilation!) and lots of screaming and banging of heads. I passed right the *kitten* out during a really intense song, but I got up pretty quickly to catch the end.

    It happens!

This has happened to be before, but I was lucky, the band was playing at a bar, so I just went and sat at a table (where I could still see them) and it helped me. I know that won't be an option most times though. :/

Well if you're fainting from the lights, hot room, crowded room, & standing too long....doesn't it make sense to maybe take a break a couple time throughout the night?

Make sure you're hydrated and have eaten beforehand. If you feel hot/cold flashes or break out in a sweat or feel a faint coming on go somewhere to lie down and put your legs up or lay with them bent. Also, if this has never happened before and you have been going to gigs for awhile, you may want to take a pregnancy test. If that is negative and you keep on fainting where you never used to faint before, I would go back to your doctor for more tests. I hope you feel better!

I faint at random sometimes (no medical reasons, just happens). Make sure you've had a decent meal before going out, and keep well hydrated with water between drinks.

As well as that, learn to notice the signs. I can tel when I'm getting close to fainting - I very suddenly feel too hot and sweaty, I get sick, my vision then starts to go funny and lastly there's a ringing in my ears.

Sometimes I just get one or two symptoms, but can tell by now what they mean.

When you feel a faint coming on, you need to find somewhere to sit down for a minute, they say to put your head between your legs as well. After sitting down for a bit you should start to feel better, and after almost fainting it often helps me to have something to eat again.

Definately not pregnant, so that can be ruled out.

And thanks to everyone for the advice.. Nice to see I'm not alone :flowerforyou:
