I am still trying to figure out how to get everything loaded in the system so it will all work together for me. One question I have is how to enter food on your own. For example, if I look at the package report of cal, fats, etc. and I am doing say a casserole or low calorie meal with several ingredients can I just total all of them and divide by the number of servings? I would just name it, add up the totals and put them in? When I search it does not always bring up the food I am eating.

Other than this, I really love the program. I am not on any particular diet program but trying to monitor my own meals. Any suggestions of how to find "low fat suggestions or protein suggestions for meals"? Is this in the program and I just don't know how to find it or are we on our own to come up with them?

    Welcome!
For your own foods go to the Food tab and the the 'my food' option and you can type in all your nutritional info there.
    Good luck!!

Hi, and welcome. There is a website that a lot of the members use when they want to enter their own recipes. It's: http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/recipe_analysis.php
As for suggestions on stuff, just ask your questions, and the wonderfully supportive members will be glad to give you some!

Looks like you already know how to post messages, since you've done a few!
You can always check out the help section at the top, I'm sure that explains pretty much any questions that you might need help with.
If you just want to reply to someone's message, you can just hit reply and type in your message. If you want to start a new topic, go to all topics on the home page, then choose general, and then I'm pretty sure there's a button somewhere that says "new topic".
While I'm at it, I'll also add that I recommend to the newbies to log ALL your foods BEFORE you have them, rather than later, as it tends to lead to better food choices. (not to mention you'll know if you've got enough numbers left to have a night time snack, like I ALWAYS try to do!) Some people also like to weigh and measure some things, such as meats, rather than just estimating and possibly being WAY off! :noway:
Don't go making the mistake that if you have LOTS of numbers left at the end of the day that you'll lose even faster, because that DOESN'T happen. Feel free to read any info about the site in the "help" section at the top of the home page. And also, under "all topics", then "general", and check out the first few threads. They'll really help you understand how MFP works.
Before coming here, I had tried just about EVERYTHING out there, including hypnosis, TWICE, and nothing really worked until MFP!
Also, drink LOTS of water, it REALLY DOES help! :drinker:
