Don't worry, tomorrow is a new day its no reason to give up!!

Maybe next time have the snack earlier in the day so that you have time to burn it off :)

Relax. It's normal for your weight to flucuate a few lbs from day to day. You didn't gain 2 lbs of fat overnight. Just stick with your plan and stay within your calories and you'll be fine.

I'm guilty of checking my weight daily, too, but we really shouldn't! I can have up to a 5lb fluctuation. It depends on stress, sleep water, sodium, excretion... etc. etc.

If you are anything like me there will be no stopping you from getting on the scale daily, but give yourself a range that you see as being normal or ok. I give myself a couple weeks after a "loss" to log it because I want to be sure that I have indeed gone down. That way when my weight does it's normal fluctuation I don't feel like "I lost a pound yesterday and gained three back this morning! argh!"

Actually... sweating it (out) would probably be a good idea.

Are you keeping an eye on your measurements? In my own experience I've found that I can go for a couple of weeks without losing any weight but I still keep losing inches :) Don't give up just because you had a coke and some cookies. Learn from it and make better choices tomorrow.... like sugar free coke and Preventia cookies (or something similar).

Don't stress about that. I weighed myself this morning and I was 145. Last night I was 142.
Your weight will go back down. There's no way your snack last night made you put on 2 pounds overnight :)

Yesterday morning I weighed 142.6 lbs... I had beef shishkabobs for lunch and 700-800 cals worth of ice cream for dinner... this morning I wake up and the scale says 140.8.... point is your weight will fluctuate lose, gain, and then a lose for good... anyone one here will tell you the same thing. Once you have been doing this for long enough you will learn how and when your body will drop... stay at it and the key, as cheesy as it sounds, is NOT to give up:) Good luck.

    1 pound = 3000 calories

There's no way you ate 2.5 pounds worth of soda and cookies.

If you want to have a soda and a cookie, just make sure it falls into your caloric intake per day and doesn't upset your macros too badly. You can't lose properly denying yourself something that you want. Just eat less of it.

I've learned not to weigh everyday, it stressed me out and then I'd eat some more. i manged to get 2 to 4 days between weigh ins working on only once a week.

3500 calories = 1 pound even, so we're looking at 8750 calories of coke and cookies. Doesn't really sound feasible, does it? :P

Relax, drink plenty of water (the irony) and go for a walk :)

Weight fluctuates all the time, so "gaining" two pounds is nothing to be alarmed about.

Hang in there and don't beat yourself up. We all have those days. When that happens, instead of feeling bad about yourself, forgive yourself and make a promise to do something good to your body today - maybe a little more exercise or a little more water. A lot of us have weight issues because of emotional issues. It's important you don't let a little setback throw you back into old eating habits. Keep positive and understand that we all trip up once in awhile. It's ok!

The folks explaining the 3,500 calories in a pound of weight make such a good point. There's no way the lady who started this thread ate 7,000 more calories in one day...or even in a couple of days. Good posts, people. That reasoning helped me through a similar "down stage" just a few weeks ago. It helped me then so I hope it helps her now. [And sure enough...just like people told me...the weight went back down a few days later.]

EDITED: But I also remember it still feels sucky lousy when the scales go up when you are trying so hard, and wishing so much, and doing so much better than you used to. Darn it. They are supposed to go down...every day. :) But they don't. Somehow we just have to soldier on and eventually good things will happen. Wishing you well....

I've had people tell me screw the scale use a measuring tape and its true. You may be bigger in weight which does change daily but your measurements shouldn't. Shoot one morning i weighed myself naked right after i woke up and went potty then still ate nothing had maybe a swig of water and worked out for about an hour and then weighed myself again and I was 5 pds heavier so ya don't trust the scale ever. If you need help with motivation you and anyone else is welcome to add me. I haven't worked out in about a month though cause I've been having back pains but going to a specialist on monday hoping to get it fixed soon but I still log everyday and am still loosing weight by just counting calories.

    ADD ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    lol

As others have posted, you should also keep track of measurements. Muscle is denser than fat, so if you're exercising a lot, you're probably building muscle mass. That may make the scale go up a bit, but I'm betting your measurement are still going down. How are your clothes fitting? Are they feeling looser? If so, don't worry about the scale. You're doing great!

Lesson of the day - don't weigh yourself more than once a week! :)

You have to stop hating on yourself, just ignore the coke and cookies, move on, and LEAVE THOSE SCALES ALONE until next week.

Chin up, it's a long journey, don't do yourself an injustice by giving up so quickly!
