Exercise/ Walking Apps

I started using a pedometer app and the Map My Walk map on my iPhone and noticed that the calories listed on the apps differ than the calories that My Fitness Pal calculates when I log the exercise. I am interested in knowing if anyone else is using the same apps and how do they log the calories?

    I log the calories shown on my pedometer app. My reasoning is this: the pedometer app tells you the average speed but if you've varied your speed you'll have burnt extra calories and these will be accounted for. The calories shown on MFP would be (for example) 30 mins at a straight 3.5mph rather than 20 mins at 3.5mph and 10 mins at 6.5 mph. I log the average speed correctly then tweak the time to correspond to the pedometer calories.
