I am wanting to buy a HRM but what type to get? I have never owned one. Is it better to get the ones with the chest bands? or just the watch without a chest band? I don't have that much money that I can spend. I am going to be biking, walking and doing cardio DVD's.
Thanks for your input

I have the polar FT4. It comes with a chest strap monitor & wrist watch. I love it.0

You can't go wrong with Polar. All of their models are great. For the beginner, the FT4 is probably the most reasonably priced and will cover you in any exercises you do.0

I have New Balance's N4. It has a transmitter strap and a wrist watch. Very easy to use; I love it!0

I'm glad you asked this question! I just read the new Consumer Reports article on thsi. I don't have a monitor, but I'm thinking of buying one, too. Polar had a couple of entries on that list. They claim that the Timext Personal Trainer T5G971 is supposed to be the best one. I can't attest to this being I don't own this one of any other.
I've heard Polar is the way to go and will continue to research.0
