Filling Foods

Does anyone have any suggestions for filling healthy foods and snacks. I just ate Thai Chicken (Udon noodles, carrots, green beans, spinach, cilantro, cubed chicken breast, and Thai Peanut sauce) -about 600 calories worth and feel hungrier than when I started. I don't want to overeat but I feel like if I am hungry I should eat. I drink tons of water usually 10-12 glasses a day so I don't think it's thirst.

  • Eat a lot of protein. I've been having more protein and fiber in my breakfasts lately and it's been helping with my hunger throughout the rest of the day. Try something like an Egg with a small bowl of oatmeal, healthy cereal, toast with penut butter, etc. Protein and fiber will keep you fuller longer, so give that a try!

This morning I had Kashi go lean cereal and a piece of eizekel cinnamon raisin bread with 1/2tsp peanut butter. an apple for snack. For lunch I had a chicken breast with mixed veggies and I am so full!!! Protein and fiber really make a difference.

    I agree about the protein.

I love a whole egg/egg white scramble sandwich. I add some uncured ham, or bacon crumble, and even a tiny bit of cheese.

I use the Arnold Thin (whole grain) rolls, they are only 100 calories, and 5 mg of fiber!

Is that Eizekel bread really good? I hear people rave about it.. Let me know what you think!
  • What other proteins could I eat besides chicken and eggs? (I like those but I like a lot of variety too)
  • I keep a stash of almonds in my desk at work. A handful is full of protein and great at keeping the hugner away a couple extra hours. Also, the special k protein meal bars are really good and filling and only 180 calories, which is high, but they last a long time!

Milk (fat-free if you choose), cottage cheese, cheese in general, nuts, yogurt, pasta (but watch out for the carbs), fish, beef, pork, beans, etc etc. Most dairy products have a lot of protein, as well as animal products.

Hope this helps! Here is a little something that might help too. =]

  • Thanks for those great ideas. I went back and looked at my levels and noticed that my lunch had a high sugar content (didn't see that coming since it's spicy!). I did some research and found an article about blood sugar levels hat might help others too.

Beans are also very filling, lots of fiber with protein and carb.

My favorite beans are Bush's Baked Beans, Fat Free Vegetarian. It tastes absolutely amazing, just watch out for the sugar/carbs.
