I sweat my *kitten* off doing cardio and that includes sweat getting inside my ear and it just trashed the right side of my $65 three month old SOL republic earbuds. No sound from the right side anymore.

I'm looking for suggestions on good sounding, water resistant earbuds that also stay nice and snug in the ear for the most part. Thanks

I need to know this too! One of my students bought me some hella cute blingy headphones for christmas (I told him previously that I was going to steal his!) - They work great but once I start sweating like a pig in heat, they won't stay in my ears :(

The funny thing is that I only have a problem with them slipping out on the right side, maybe my ears are not the same size. lol

A lot of people swear by Yurbuds. http://www.yurbuds.com/ I tried them and they did fall out for me, although, I have very small ears and I think that may be the problem. I feel your pain though, because my expensive Shure earbuds are starting to crackle from the same problem (although they DID stay in).

I have Bose in-ear buds. They have a new design that helps to keep them in during exercise. They are great! About a 100 bucks.

How much are you wiling to spend?

A great budget in ear headphone is the SoundMagic E10. I'm not sure if they are available in the States but here in the UK they cost £35.00.

Personally, I go through headphones faster than a curry goes through a drunk bloke so I have come to the conclusion that replacing them every so often is better than an expensive set which I would be paranoid about using.

ETA: if you are willing to spend a little more try the Klipsch Image S4. They are about $75 in the States and are very good.
  • I wouldn't recommend Dr. Dre's. My husband says they slip out all the time during cardio. But I have heard good things from Bose. Never tried them myself though. I prefer over the ear headphones, but again Dr. Dre's suck in that department too. Sound quality is awesome, but after awhile, the right ear stopped working.

    Audio Technica ATH-CKM50A In-ear Headphones.

I sweat like a pig, and they still are working stellar.

Oh and they are like 25 bucks.

Lots of people around here use the Dr Dre over the ears headphones. I even call this one guy at the gym "Dr. Dreadlocks" or "Dr. Dreads" He has these long dreadlocks and is always wearing his Dr. Dre's no matter wear he is in the gym or what he is doing. lol

I was waiting to see what the replies are. Part of me was also thinking about buying decent sounding cheapy ones knowing they will be replaced often, but If I can find something that fits what I'm looking for and is maybe around $100-$125 max then I might consider that.

    Fair dues.

Personally, I would avoid the Beats / Dre headphones in case you are considering them. Not saying they are bad but there are much better headphones out there in that price bracket.

I have Bose earbuds, and they aren't as good as the cheap ones I buy. I always get the Koss KE29, you can get them on Amazon or Walmart.com for about $15-$20, depending on what color you like. They come with 3 different sized sets of ear cushion-things. One side of the cord is longer than the other, so you can wrap it around the back of your neck. They also come with a soft case for storage. The Koss earbuds also have a volume adjuster on the actual cord. They aren't a complete noise-cancellation set, but it cuts down MOST of the outside noise. The sound quality is a tad better than the Bose earbuds, at least I think so. I go through a pair about every year and a half, and I use the heck out of mine (like slamming them in car doors, dropping them in water, wearing them in the tanning bed). I hope they never quit making them, cause I don't know what I'll do... lol

Believe it or not, Wally World sells a set of Maxwell earbuds for $5.00 that are just as good as any high dollar pair and have held up to my sweating so far. They come with differemnt size ends and if they don't last long heck it's only $5 bucks. They sound almost as good as my full size noise cancelling $120 headphones.

These are my favorites . . . they come with different sized rubber ear caps for a good fit. I typically go through buds pretty quickly, so I bought an extra set to have on hand, but my original pair is going on almost 2 years now.
