Extreme weight loss and gain??

I'm really beginning to worry about my health. I have extreme weight loss and weight gain FAST. Here's an example. At the end of January I weighed 147 (which is low for me) without even trying. Then 3 weeks later I went to the doctor and was over 170!! I almost had a heart attack. The doctor began to tell me I'm overweight blah blah blah. I know this is not normal for me. I mean people look at me and think I weigh 130 not 170! I went home and weighed myself to make sure the scale was accurate, but it was the same. I was so upset. Anyway, I've maintained that 167-170 weight for a couple of months now. I just weighed myself last night and I was 168, I then weighed myself this morning and I'm 156??? That doesn't even seem humanly possible. I know everyone says not to pay attention to the scales but when I can lose over 10 lbs in one night, something isn't right. I do this often, it's not the first time I've dropped 10 lbs that fast. What could be the issue here? I can't take this extreme weight gain anymore. I really don't even know how it's possible for me to be 170. I'm not trying to be snobby, it's just a fact. I do not look like I weigh that much..so confused. HELP!

Sounds to me like your body may have been in starvation mode while you were losing weight? I am no expert, but I did a ketotonic diet and lost 101 pounds in 7 mths with no hunger ...as soon as i quit the diet, the weight pounded back on ..as much as 15 pounds in 3 days.0

I don't diet..I pretty much eat what I want just in smaller portions lol. Trust me, there's no starvation going on over here! Half the time I don't even finish my food chart..I'm probably averaging 1500-1600 calories a day.0

Sounds like your scale is broken.
If you put on the same clothes you wore yesterday are they loose? If you truly are 10 lbs lighter today they would feel A LOT looser.0 -
Are you exercising too?0

I would test your scale for accuracy. Do you have a hand weight or an unopened bag of rice or something that is a set weight?
If you have a say 10lb hand weight put it on the scale and see what it reads. If it reads anything but 10lbs I would get a new scale.
Also, make sure the scale is positioned on a level floor that is hard. Unevened floors and carpets tend to lower the accuracy.0 -

Sorry no. Your scale is broken, you had a baby, birthed a tumor, or peed all night.0 -
I can gain or loose 5 pounds a day easily...according to the scale...some peoples bodies can do that....So it doesn't seem that weird to me but I'm also a lot heavier then you....so check your scale out.0

Talk to your doctor not a webform post. It could be kidney failure, heart problems, or excessive fluid building-up somewhere and watch your sodium intake for a few weeks too.
If it isn't your scale, get it checked and also, parathyroid disease can do it too.0 -
You should make another appt with your doctor & tell him/her what is going on....Keep a log of everything (you can print it from here) to take with you...They may need to run tests or something b/c that is not right at all....Get back to the doctor ASAP!! That is my advice to you girl....Good luck!0
