Hey all, so I've decided to sign up to the race fOr life with my friend under one condition, we run/jog the whole thing!! I go to the gym 4/5 times a week (on a good week) but being over weight I struggle to maintain the running. I'm 5'2" and most recent weigh in was 158lbs. I also have big boobs so back ache can be an issue, I do have an amazing sports bra but after a long day it doesn't always help!!

Currently I am able to run/jog at 4.9mph/6.3mph interval running for 1mile around 12/13 minutes! My breathing sucks and my calves punish me regardless of the amount of stretching I do before and after.

I have until 15th July and I want to have run this distance at least once or twice to make sure I'm ready!! Hopefully I will be able to do the 10k five months after but not counting my chickens just yet!!

Please please please Offer tips of a) being able to run 5k in 3 months and b) controlling my breathing!
Many thanks

Run a little bit longer each time you go running.

Many people swear by the C25k which you can download on i-tunes, it has some excellent reviews on MFP from people that have completed it and are now running 5ks and longer regularly.
