When I was heavier I was lighter, now I'm slightly tanned

No I didn't tan, and I still have the same camera I did when I was heavier. Visionally to me when I look in the mirror, my skin has a glow or slight tan to it. It's winter time so I know it's not the outdoor sun, actually in the winter I'm lighter than any other season.

I'm happy with this so this isn't a rant, but what might have cause this, and has anyone else experience this?

When I don't eat properly, I tend towards being pale. When I feed myself with nutritious foods and exercise, I have more colour to my complexion.

I'm still really pale, but I noticed my skin has a healthier, more golden glow to it now that I eat a lot better.

From a physiological point of view, I wonder if it has anything to do with blood flow, or an increase in circulation.

This is an article I read on MSN.com a while back. It claims that certain veggies can give you a "glow," and that in research, this glow was actually more attractive than a sun tan. It might be the biological reason that darker skin is found attractive.

Less fat in dermal layers = increased blood flow per area? I dunno, it's neat though!

After an intense workout (particularly lifting heavy weights) I always have a 'reddish' tint to my face, which I am guessing is due to sudden rush of blood. Typically it goes away the next day!

I'VE NOTICED THIS IN MYSELF TOO, AND i WONDER IF MAYBE IT HAS TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT WHEN YOU'RE SMALLER, YOUR SKIN ISN'T STRETCHED OUT AS MUCH (sorry about the caps. didn't realize it was on. I'm not yelling I swear! :P) But I wonder that since the skin isn't stretched quite so much, if it brings the pigment cells closer together, because you only have so many in your skin. Just my thoughts :)
