Fat and Fatter

Hi all,

There is a documentary that has been running all weekend on CNBC called "Fat and Fatter" and I have watched it twice now. I don't want to influence anyone else's opinion by giving mine just yet, so I will just ask - has anyone else seen this documentary? What are your thoughts?

It's airing again tonight at 9 pm central if you're interested.

I saw it. I really think the two British women had their eyes opened to what their future could hold. The American women's meals were like food porn. What did you think of the show?

I'll start by saying I find it odd that British women were sent to small-town Mississippi for this experience. The documentary seemed to highlight more cultural issues (race, ethnicity, poverty, education, health care, etc.) than pure weight-related issues.

I saw it, and it just seemed to be gluttony at it's height. I only wished they would've given a follow up on the Mississippi ladies. I wonder if they are still here.

Which brings me to my next point. The documentary truly exposed (one could even say "exploited") the lives of the Mississippi women, but did not give an update on them or offer them (at least publicly) any assistance to solve their weight problems. Disappointing.

I would have liked to see how the Mississippi ladies did after they said they would make better choices. Or even the woman on dialysis. Since they did show they young British ladies in a few weeks later I am guessing that the parties responsible for the program must have originated in Great Britain so they didn't feel or wanted to return to what they left? Which wasn't fair for us.

Yes, I found it to be irresponsible filmmaking. It was a raw, emotional, soul-bearing look into the lifestyles of the Mississippi women left wide-open without even a hint at a solution for them. I am glad that the Brits were able to take hold of their health when they got back home, but they were not the ones most in need of intervention.

The show reminds me of the scared straight documentary, the British teens may have been scared to make the lifestyle adjustments to enhance their quality of life; however the Mississippi may stilled be locked in their lifestyle addiction full of limitations.

I watched this show over the weekend. This was the first time I ever heard about this show. I really
enjoyed watching this show. I felt that this show was very realistic and upfront. I cringed watching
the overweight women serving up a pot full of pig feet & pigtails. Greens can be very healthy and
tasty, but the greens they served were full of fatback. The show had a lot of insight , however I
think the show should've brought in a professional cook on the last day to instruct the ladies on
how to cook healthy meals. They should have served 3 healthy meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner
to everyone on the last day of the show.
