Hello Everyone,
My name is Emma, I am 18 and I have Poly cystic Ovarian Syndrome. (PCOS) I am overweight and I want to change it so I can start trying for a baby with my partner. It would be so nice if I had someone by my side (Not literally lol) supporting me and vise versa. Especially if that person knows what I am going through and knows how it feels to have to deal with PCOS .
Anyone want a fitness buddy?
Hugs, Em xx

Hi Emma!
I too have PCOS! I was diagnosed 13 years ago and have struggled with loosing weight my whole life. I'm not as active as I should be but I've been trying to do more and more each day. I'm an adoptive mom and want to get healthy for my little one because she needs and active mommy!
I know the struggles of trying to conceive with PCOS. So I hope that we can be friends! I'm a little behind but believe that helping each other be accountable for what we are eating and if we are doing any exercise it will help tremendously!
God Bless,
Gidgit0 -
Hi Emma,
I will be a fitness buddy! I was just diagnosed with PCOS a couple of weeks ago. My insulin was off the charts at 33. My Vitamin D was in the gutter at 15 and my potassium was a 3. I am completely falling apart. LOL. I started Metformin and it is amazing how much bloat I lost in 2 weeks on the medication. I have tried to cut out breads and most sugars. Sometimes I do fall short, but I am terrified of becoming diabetic. My husband and I are not sure about the kid thing, but I do want to at least make the decision for myself instead of PCOS making the decision for me.0 -
Hey!
Yeah I feel you cant always do exorcise on your own, you need someone there that can help you and influence you to make the right decisions in eating and exorcising!0 -
I fell of the Planet Fitness wagon for the past 2 weeks but I'll be your buddy. Sometimes I need a lil motivation and a push (or a kick) to make sure I'm making my goals. My doctor put me on Metformin bit I dont know if its the meds or the fact that I actually SEEEEE what I'm eating that has helped me lose the little bit of wieght that I did. It's a process. Take it one day at a time and set small goals instead of big ones.
Ex: lose 20 lbs by July instead try 5 lbs in 4 weeks. It seems more easily attainable. Thats what I find helps me.
I'm still on the learning end of what works with the PCOS body but ask away and I'll help anyway I can. Feel free to add me! )0 -
I was diagnosed with PCOS 4 years ago. I am currently 22 and married and trying to have a baby. Its a struggle. I cant take the metformin. I will be more than happy to be your fitness buddy. I just currently started planet fitness and have lost 15 pounds since the end of February.0

Hi, Ladies! This is completely unrelated but I was wondering if y'all could help me understand PCOS more? I haven't been diagnosed but I have a lot of the symptoms and when I go to my doctor this month I am going to ask her about it. I was wondering what testing was done to diagnose it?0

I also have PCOS (am 45 yr old) and was put on Metformin, lovasa and spirolactone and a low carb diet 20%/40%/40%
all of which are working well for me. I have felt better than ever and feel like I lost 10-15 years. I sleep better, my skin and hair feel and look better.
I do have some issues at times with the meds and have read others do as well.
I have been so far sucessful in getting fit and losing weight with zumba.
That is til I tore out my knee (out dancing) and have been off any kind of work out routine for the last 3 weeks. I go see ortho tomorrow and plan to hit the gym and working what I can while Im there the day after. I will go back to zumba as soon as I can since I really miss it and love the way it has helped my body to shape up.
Im down 32 ppounds and 4 dress sizes in 5 months...
Also willing to add to my MFP pal list just drop me a message when you do..0 -
I'm 28 and have been diagnosed about 3 years ago. A couple months ago I lost 10% of my body weight n got my pd back. Then I gained the weight back because I quit trying. Now, I've been working out almost everyday and had a pd last month and am excited to see if I get one this month. I refuse to take meds on the regular because I'm not sick I just need to loose weight. ;-)
It's a challange but we can push through this.0 -
Just some encouragement for those TTC... I have PCOS and managed to conceive both my kids with the help of Clomid. PCOS does cause infertility, but many (unfortunately not everyone) can overcome it with the right treatments. Clomid is dirt cheap even if you don't have insurance. So if you have PCOS and you're having problems conceiving and haven't seen a doctor yet it is totally worth it to go talk to a doctor. Your OB/GYN might be able to help you (mine was good), but a Reproductive Endocrinologist will be more knowledgeable. If Clomid doesn't help you there are other options as well.
Good luck!0 -
Sorry for the late reply, but please feel free to add me! Just recently diagnosed with PCOS and I'm struggling with keeping healthy eating habits and limited my carbs. Some extra support would be nice, especially from those with a similar diagnosis.0

Hello! My name is Raina, and I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 14 years old.
I have been through it all - acne, unwanted body hair (undergoing laser hair removal now) and now excess weight. I was 150lb until I was about 18 when I met my now husband. I gained 65 pounds, and now it is REALLY hard to lose. The lowest weight I have been since starting MFP was 199, and that didn't last long. I would LOVE to have PCOS friends who can relate with me!
My main reason to lose weight is for me to feel better about myself, but secondly, I want to lose weight so I can get pregnant in a few years when I graduate from college. My husband and I are really looking forward to having kids, but I don't want to balloon in weight when that eventually happens.
Feel free to add me!0 -
I was diagnosed about a month ago. My testosterone was way too high and I have the hair to prove. I also had an elevated C Peptide level which is supposed to determine degree of insulin resistance. I also had an ultrasound and saw a few cysts for myself. My Dr gave me a diet(lower carbs, about 80 per day) that I have been getting closer to but can't always stick to it. Before I was diagnosed I started going to Dance Trance the day after Xmas and still go three times per week. It's great fun. I have lost a few pounds but I don't have a scale so I don't know the exact weight.0

I am 26 now and was diagnosed with PCOS 5 years ago when my cycles went CRAZY. Now I'm on the pill to help but am still dealing with the weight and unwanted hair. I just started here at MFP this past week but am feeling really excited about not only losing weight but also helping to fight the PCOS symptoms. Thinking I should ask my doctor about metformin as well, since I see a lot of people are on that. I need to do some research....
Anyways, feel free to add me anyone!0 -
Feel free to add me I also have PCOS and battling weight issues.0

I too am looking for PCOS buddies/motivators I've had PCOS since I was 14 and while not really considered to have weight problems I can't loose the 30lbs I'd like to. I stuggle with hirsuitism and I still look like I just had a baby (my "baby" just turned 4)
I also struggle with fatigue. But recently found Femmenessence at the Market and am hoping that will improve. Add Me especially if you live in/ Near Seattle and would like an outdoor exercise buddy! Its hard to stay motivated when you do it Alone!:)0
