How heavy should a man be?

Like the subject says, how heavy do you think a man of normal height should be?

I ask because I read on a profile that an adult woman had a boyfriend that was 145 and that was her inspiration to lose weight. That seems *very* light to me. Perhaps he's 5'4 or something....

Am I crazy? Are most men suppose to be 145? Or does that seem waifish thin to anyone else besides me?

Height and body frame are big factors.

I think it's best to find your body fat % and project from there.

One lady in another area of the forum has a boyfriend who is 6'2 and 125 Ibs, now that seems more worrying to me than 145, lol. It depends on height and build, exercise level I suppose. I have come across a lot of guys of around 5'9 who are 140-150Ibs, and my ex is almost 6 foot and was only 154, with effort. He dropped to 140 when cycling.

My preference? I'd rather you be a bit big (muscle OR fat) than too skinny.

My boyfriend is 150lbs and 5'7". He also has Muscular Dystrophy, so it's not easy for him to gain weight.

My guy is 5'10 and 130 lbs, but he's very thinly-built; he's muscular, but looks very slim. I think it works for him but I wouldn't try to say that it's an ideal or that it works for everyone. Different frames hold weight differently. I'm kind of built small like him (though shorter) so my goal is to get below his weight level respectively.

Im 6'1" and currently 201. I think a good weight for me will be 180-190. Not too skinny but not too fat either!

In my opinion a six foot man should weigh between 170-200lbs. My hubby is 6 foot and weighs 215-220 and isn't very much fat. If he got under 200 I think his bones would stick out. He has very thick wrists and wide shoulders so he must be a thicker body type (not to mention the cro-mag brow ridges he has). My brother on the other hand is about 6'1" and weighs 160-175. He is a bit slender and hasn't built up his muscle mass after an accident that left him in a coma two and a half years ago. But even when he was working construction 60 hrs a week he couldnt break180.:grumble:

That seems too thin to me unless he is shorter in stature~ But my dad is 5' 6" and 155-165 ...He maybe short but he has always watched his weight and never been above 165 lbs. He looks good for his size and weight.

The average height of American adult men is about 5'10". Just going off BMI (with all its problems, I know), the "healthy range" is 130 to 175 for an average American man. Obviously, height and frame size and body comp are going to introduce a lot of variation on how heavy a given man "should" be.

I don't really think it's something you can generalize. It really depends on height and build. My hubby is 5'10" and was pretty lean at 190 when wrestling in high school. Now he's at 270, but would probably be good at 220. My 12 yo is 5'6" and is 155, still has a bit of baby fat (but is quite muscular), but he just started lifting and I'm sure that will melt off him and he'll gain even more when he adds more muscle. They both are what I would consider big framed. My brother is 5'9" and was 155-165 at his prime in high school, now around 200, but could stand to lose about 30 lbs and would be considered average frame, I think.

I am 6'2" with a large frame. I really like the way I feel and look when I am under 190 - like I am in my user profile photo but I tend to get people telling me that I look too thin when I am that weight. I am doing a lot of heavy lifting these days so I expect that I will eventually end up at about 200 with more muscle. I am good with that. I would like to get down to about 15% body fat.

My husband is 5'10" at 127lbs. Very thin but not "too" thin, he's still pretty strong. My goal is to get to 130lbs, I don't know if I'll ever weigh less than him but we have different body types and I've accepted that.

My boyfriend is 6'2'' and weighs around 190 - he's broad and built a little like a football player, so he's muscular and not too skinny. Whatever you're comfortable with on your body type - if you're confident and like the way you look, so will others :)

i'm about 6'2" and currently at 206 pounds which i feel is a good weight for a "man" of my size... i'm just not satisfied with my bf% at this weight so i'm continuing to drop weight and will concentrate on adding muscle mass in a few more weeks when i up my calories...

I read somewhere a few years back that on average you should weigh 100 lbs at 5 feet + 5-6 lbs for every inch over. So, a person that's 5'9" weigh in between 145-154. For me I'm more comfortable and simply feel better in the 155-160 range

Bruce Lee weighed 160 at his heaviest, around 135 when he was fit. He was just under 5'8".
Just sayin, cuz I always thought he was hot.

I'm 6 foot and 174 and people think I am too thin. Right now I am about 8 - 10% body fat so trying to put a little back on. All depends on your build.

Graduated high school at 110 lbs and probably a higher body fat then I am now. Put on a lot of muscle in college and military.
