New Medication - Anyone Females Familiar?

I went to the doctor this morning and have been put on a new medication. It is called Cryselle. It is an oral contraceptive that is being used (in my case) to get me to stop bleeding. I have used Provera in the past to "jump start" my cycles due to severly irregular menses but this time it hasn't worked and I have been spotting for the last six weeks. I first thought it was just coincidence since I started exercising about the same time.

Has anyone heard of or been on this medication and how was the dreaded weight gain/mood swings:ohwell: ?

Who is your Dr? I need to see her. I have been on Provera and bleeding for 5 months straight.. period blood flow. And all my Dr ever tells me is that it's normal for up to 6 months and I just have to stick it out. I wish I would be prescribed something to get me to stop bleeding!

Sorry that my response did not answer your question. If you count your calories you will not gain weight.

I had endometrial cancer after losing a lot of weight back in 2004. I was told that the weight loss put a lot of hormones into my blood and that caused the cancer. I had had regular pap smears for my life and this still happened. If the bleeding started after losing a lot of weight, I'd check it out. Don't mean to scare anyone, just letting you know bleeding can mean various things and don't let your doctor blow you off. HUGS

Wow, you might need a new Dr. ! I called my doc after 4 months of bleeding and they got me right in and were concerned. Provera did the trick.

    Thanks everyone!

I had my Pap done on 2/16 when I went in to see the doctor. She told me "Oh, you started bleeding when I did the scrape." Duh! I always do! I told her that I have been "spotting" (heaving enough for one pad a day) for almost a year on and off. She said well lets try the Provera (no luck) and come back in three months (did not want to put me on BCP because I smoke). Well, it has only been a month and a half and they called to say I had an appointment this morning. So when I went in this morning, they weighed me (14 pound loss per their scale) and then I went in to talk to the doctor. She said well, we will try the BCP to see if they make you stop bleeding. If not, she is going to refer me to a specialist at ECU. She gave me a prescription for 4 months of Cryselle.

I just don't want to gain back the weight that I have tried so hard to lose.
