So lately I've been getting comments like crazy about my appearance and how pretty I am... and I realize all I do is shut the comments out because I truly do not feel beautiful, i feel disgusting... So how do I become more open to comments and begin to see myself as something else other than unnattractive?

It is so hard, because we are our own worst critics. Part of accepting compliments is that the person is subjective, meaning that they mean the comment and it's genuine. Meanwhile, you critique yourself just like everyone else critiques themselves.0

I hope this doesn`t come across as cold and unfeeling but after looking at your pictures and goals if that is what you really feel about yourself then I think perhaps some professional real life counseling is the answer. :flowerforyou:0

No one is going to make you do that though,it has to come from within.
I can tell you 60 times an hour every hour that you are beautiful but if you refuse to believe it what does it accomplish.
Whatever the root cause is for you to see something that is not real is beyond my guess and that is what you need to deal with.
Not sure if this makes any sense or not but you have to be a willing participant in "fixing" this.0 -
not sure if seeking attention... =_=
i feel the same i've had comments sometimes but bah0 -
I'm not, i simply asked how people deal with complimentrs they dont deserve and how they act confident.0

Fake it til you make it.
Look the complimenter in the eye, say thank you and move on.0 -
What do you find unattractive about yourself?0

try to stop comparing yourself to anyone or anything
tell yourself you are beautiful OUT LOUD infront of a mirror everyday whether you mean it or not and out loud say all the things you like about yourself that day physically emotionally relationships family friendships school work...etc. or if you cant think of anything then just tell yourself you are beautiful
GIVE more compliments & have them be genuine and daily
feed into your positive thoughts and dont let yourself become consumed by your negative thoughts
"emotions are like waves they hit us hard no matter what, but we always have the choice of which ones to surf" (one of my fav quotes)
this all takes months/years but its so worth it and you'll be happily accepting the complimentsgood luck!

You start with believing in yourself0

A compliment is usually genuine. To not accept that compliment can sometimes be an insult to the person who gave you the compliment.0

Being concerned with others may help you to feel better about yourself, until you Believe, just say Thank you!0

I agree.. it doesn't matter hat everyone else thinks about u, if u don't believe it then what can be done.... Whenever I've gotten what I feel is an undeserved compliment I say thanks and change the subject lol... But beauty treatments (massages/ facials etc) for me go a long way in making me feel good about myself0
