Muscle and Weight Gain....

When I started with MFP, I weighed 148 lbs. I got down to 137 lbs., but since June I have gained/lossed and stayed right aroung 140-141 lbs. I was never able to get back down to 137. I felt like I was stuck, but all I was doing was cardio; I had heard a lot of people saying how you HAVE to do weight training as well to continue to loose weight; I've weight trained before, so it wasn't a big deal to me. WELL, I weighed in this week and I'm up to 143 lbs.!!!!! I haven't been this heavy in a loooooonggggg time. I don't really feel like I've gained weight, and I know it could be because of increased muscle and less fat; however, will I ever be able to actually LOOSE weight again if I'm weight training. I just don't know what to do....help please!!

The answer to your question is... It really doesn't matter! There is no medical reason that you MUST see a certain number on the scale. What matters is your body fat %. Even if you weighed 150 - you might still look HOT and fit into a size 4 (depending on how tall you are). So throw your scale out the window and stop worrying about what it says - its mostly lies anyway! Focus on weight training to tone and create lean muscle. You will be SMALLER, maybe just not LIGHTER.0

I think you might want to try a combination of weight training and cardio. It might help burn more calories while increasing the muscles which also burn fat. I try to do 45 minutes of cardio and then 15-30 min of weights (depending on my attention span).0

Have you tried tweaking your daily calorie and fat intake? After you lose the first 10 lbs you should probably tweak it and set yourself to eat a little less. That is what I did and I continue to lose. However, I have noticed if I do the exact same exercise for the exact same amount of time each day I get stuck. I would change it up maybe try doing something other than cardio 2 days a week. I bet that will help0

Taking your waist and abdomen measurments are a much better way to track your success. Weight is so subjective, it's just not an accurate indicator unless you have a lot of weight to lose (like me).0
