Loose or Increase Weight- goal is to build muscles and look

Dear Fitness Members,

I would like your help with one aspect. I have recently downloaded this app on my phone. My ultimate fitness goal is undoubtedly to look fitter ,but also to gain more muscles in the process.

Hence, Should I be using this app for weight gain or weight loss? I know it may sound simple, but I am a little confused.

    if you are a true beginner you can build muscle and lose fat at the same time to an extent. But you did not post your stats so there is not much I can do.

    You can't build muscle if you are cutting weight but if you want to stay the same weight but lose body fat just eat your maintenance calories and lift heavy...worked for me.
