2 protein bars a day?!

The home made bars sound great! I'll have to try.0

Personally I try to avoid shakes and bars for protein. I try my hardest to get them from all natural sources. If it's a heavy workout day I might snack on half a protein bar, but not often at all. I don't like all the ingredients I see on the back, what are they?! But a lot of people like them and have success with them. Sorry, I'm just no help at all! :ohwell:
Protein from shakes are natural. Whey is a dairy product and it's just as good as a piece of meat, especially considering its excellent amino acid profile. I get 50-75g (which is 1/3-1/2 of my protein) from whey.2 -
I just made some, and the 1/3 cup of milk, seems to be way off. So dry I couldn't even mix it....ended up using about 1/2 cup to get ti to stick together. :-)0

Also,don't forget the approx. 270 sodium,per bar.0

I've never had an issue with just 1/3. Everyone has their preferences though0 -
BreakingOath- Thanks for sharing the idea of homemade bars and for sharing your recipe!0

Great post, and thanks to the poster who shared his recipe, now we can modify it to our own specifications and all have the "perfect" protein bar for US! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0

I wonder if it was the smaller scoop size of protein powder that was used in the recipe? Some scoops are much bigger than others in different containers sizes or brands. Some from GNC I've had were bigger scoops and the one in the Biochem container is pretty little.
What size scoop did you use in the original recipe? They sounds really good!0 -
The scoop I use is a 34 gram scoop. For me they are really chewy so it takes longer to chew and longer to eat, which makes me feel more satisfied. They seem to fall apart really easily with natural peanutbutter though. I still haven't perfected all the measurements so I might try the 1/2 cup of milk next time.0

Bump....sounds delicious!0

Hi all,
Sometimes I have a protein bar as morning snack & afternoon snack (just for convenience and not every single day). Is this ok occasionally as long as it fits within my daily calorie intake?
I really must try and have my whey protein powder more...i just find it easier to have the bars on the go and people tend to ask what i'm drinking when i'm shaking up a whey protein shake...so avoids all the questions in my office by having a bar! xxx
I say go for it!! I have waves that I ditch the shakes and eat more protein bars. Nearly for the same reason: job related.0 -

What about 2 protein bars and 2 protein shakes a day “sometimes” like on the really hard days.0

I personally have never had a hard day that would have seemed better if I'd consumed two protein bars and two protein shakes, but you do you!2 -

This thread is over 8 years old. I doubt OP is even around any more.3 -

Me either. There aren't that many protein bars or shakes that I'd want to suffer through even once a day, let alone twice. 😂 Makes me think of when I tried Slimfast eons ago. Those shakes were nasty and I was always crabby and hungry like an hour later. That approach didn't last long...lol
However, @graceeorso , I would say as long as you didn't make that your main daily sources of calories (variety is usuallythe best approach for proper nutrition), I'd say why not?1
