LOLing during serious moments in movies

I have a serious problem with this. I can screw up a touching moment for everyone in the theater with my childish sense of humor. A few recent ones that come to mind

-The move Precious. Precious messed up dinner or something and the mom threw a pot at her, Precious ducks and the pan just misses her head and hits the wall behind her. That was hilarious to me, and I don't even know why.
Another moment in that movie was when Precious' mother was describing an abusive situation to a counselor, she says "He told me to such my fat azz up...so I shut my fat azz up" <----What kind of person laughs at something like that? Me.

-The Blindside. I'm still not sure if that movie was meant to be funny or not, but everything Micheal Oher did cracked me up.

-Courageous. This was a Christian movie about 4 men striving to be better fathers. The Hispanic father is going through some money troubles, and has to go look for a job or something:

Him: Do you have anything for me to eat?
Wife: *looks around* "A tortilla."
Him: *takes tortilla and walks out with his head down* "...ok"

Me:

Somebody, anybody, please tell me that I'm not alone in this.

Maybe it is the thought that these people are pretending and actually probably have no idea what that type of moment is really like that helps you to find hilarity in it.
  • I quite like most of the Twilight films but had numerous hysterical laughing moments whilst watching Breaking Dawn pt 1, some of the teeny-bopper twihards were not impressed :)

Not just you. But that's what I like about movies vs comedy tv shows. I don't like that they play the laugh machine or have the audience laugh at certain points. I'll laugh because I FEEL something is funny and not just because some sound bite told me to.

When the movie Philadelphia came out in theatres my husband (was boyfriend back then) and I went with his best friend and best friend's girlfriend. There were many quiet parts in the movie and suddenly my husband's best friend says loudly "don't touch me there" Soooo couldn't stop laughing for the rest of the movie.

    You're welcome.

I also laughed in Finding Nemo when, toward the end, Marlin thinks Nemo is dead under the fishing net.

Yeaaah, but I'd always imagined it'd be because I was a hooker or something...not for laughing when I shouldn't...

I remember my ex-wife laughing out loud when the girl with the claymore mine strapped to her blew up in the movie Swordfish.

She was eight months pregnant at the time.

Freaked me out just a little.

That is one of my all time favorite movies..
But every time I watch it I can't keep from laughing at that.
Or the part where "old" rose is looking at the footage of the wreck and goes "OOhhh" It's suppose to be one of those moments where she's so upset by the pictures.. it's not suppose to be funny.

I laugh when people get murdered in movies.. I can't honestly help it.

I even laughed at the funeral scene... I don't know why but I can't stop myself from laughing during it.
