My name is Tracy. I'm 36, married, and will hopefully have a baby through surrogacy in 2013. I run several online sites for anxiety from home, so I don't get much physical activity work wise. I'm pretty sedentary all around, actually. My anxiety is one reason I'm looking to exercise...being physical is a great combatant to stress. Also, I have Hidradenitis Suppurativa, which is a skin condition. Losing weight will not cure it, but will drastically improve it. I'm a comfort eater, and I also take Lexapro for my anxiety (and that packs on the pounds.)

I'm 5'5", I weigh 245, and my goal is 135, so I have 110 pounds to lose. I carry most of my weight in my stomach, though I have a couple of extra chins that might beg to differ. ;)

I started a walking video last week, pulled a muscle in my chest, and ended up in the hospital overnight because they thought it might be my heart. Fun times.

Anyway, I smoke too, and that is soon to go. I'm a little scared at the thought of giving up my food and cigarettes, but I want a baby more than anything. I'm determined to be healthy and fit for my little one, so here I am. And I won't lie...I'm pretty nervous. It's a LOT of weight to lose, it means HUGE lifestyle changes, and it takes away one of my stress relievers. But I'm committed, and I have a very supportive husband and group of friends. So here's to losing weight and being the best me that I can be!

  • Hi Tracey,

Welcome to mfp. I too am new to this site, I have spent a good portion of my life dieting and gaining back and have also had bouts of anxiety with depression. I have found that through lots of prayer and self evaluation, the anxiety attacks became fewer and far in between. I still have anxiety over many things, yet have learned that worrying only makes me feel worse. So, I have learned to ignore it most times and things that shouldn't be ignored, i deal with and move on and live a normal life. As for the weight that you have to lose, look at it in small goals, like 5-10 lbs at a time. I have stuck to my caloric intake now for 4 days and am down 2.6 lbs. You CAN do it if you want it bad enough! I am here for you. Feel free to add me as a friend. You can do this!
