Broccoli chicken. It's my Chinese food standby, usually 300 calories or less per serving and so good!0

Chicken and Mushroom in a gravy based sauce like Oyster :-)0

Just watch those portion sizes. You know they usually give you double the rice with chinese.0

Gosh some people don't half get on their soap boxes - the OP didn't ask for a lecture on chinese food he asked what his best option is.......if you can't answer the question then don't post just to put your 2 pence worth in!!!0

My first post! I was driven to respond!
They usually have a steamed option. I try to get the steamed shrimp and veggies and the garlic sauce or brown sauce on the side. I can lightly dip like when I'm trying to go uber light on salad dressing. You get the taste w/out as much fat and salt.
I skip the rice because I don't love it and would eat something later on when that 1 hour is up!
Just a thought!

Maybe try the chinese vegtables and brown rice0

Shrimp with Broccoli...sauce on the side with brown rice.0

Or Hunan Style Bean Curd (aka Tofu) and egg drop or hot and sour soup.0

I love grilled teriyaki chicken and fried rice...probably not the healthiest option but SO good! Only...the fried rice from the place I love is made with MSG...and I am apparently very sensitive to MSG. I had the fried rice they make specially without MSG and it just didn't taste the same. It has really helped me to stay away from Chinese food.
Not that any of this had ANYTHING to do with your question...i'm just still morning my favorite fried rice. :laugh:0 -
Something steamed -- like steamed shrimp & broccoli, or chicken & broccoli. If you can, keep that white rice portion as small as possible -- it's packed w/ calories and not many nutrients. But good for you for planning ahead! Try entering your planned food & portion size into MFP in advance to see how it will fit in your day.0

I did a detox a few months ago and since then I've not been able to stomach chinese and it's my favourite!! Everytime I have it, makes me ill :-(0 -
Well, typing all that extra punctuation probably bought you an extra 30-60 calories.
Watch out for the rice!0 -

Dont do the rice....HIGH in calories!! Do the veggies!! the beef/broccoli sounds the safest!!0
-
Don't do it!0

Sizzling rice soup? oh ymmy! and of course watch the sauces if you're watching your sugar! Cashew chicken with brocolli?0
-
Shrimp and broccoli, Brown Rice. Stay away from the egg rolls and dumplings!0
-
Sure enough, non87. My mistake!0

Haha I am not the person to answer this! I love Chinese food and eat it so infrequently that when I do, I still get friend rice and general tso's chicken. Sometimes an egg roll with it I just don't eat the huge portions I used to.0

My weakness is Orange Beef. When I indulge, I have 1.5 C of Orange Beef, with 1/2 C steamed white rice for about 356 calories. I usually start off with 1.5 C of Hot & Sour soup for around 150 calories. Eating the soup first helps control my tendency to overindulge on the rest of the meal.0
-
my mom always tells me chicken and broccoli w/ white steamed rice ( tender broccoli). It's one of my favorites.0
-
UPDATE: I ended up getting Kung Pao chicken XXXX Hot with steamed white rice and NO eggroll!0
-
I know egg rolls are bad. What about spring rolls?
I usually get shrimp with mixed veggies and brown rice ((if they have it)) and crab Rangoon ((if I have the extra calories for it aka not drinking that night)) and hot and sour soup ((yummmmmy))
Portion control is key with Chinese food.. Not eating everything on the plate.0
