I love the idea of Crossfit and am super curious. A new gym just opened in my neighborhood and I want to try. The only problem is I am scared. I love the intensity and the whole idea.....but the intesnity also scares me....idk why. Anyone doing crossift have any pointers or helpful hints for a newbie? Thanks

Most CrossFit gyms have a "Lite" or intro class that you can attend to get the feel for it. You will see people of all ages at a CrossFit box, but you should definitely have a base level of fitness before attending. By "base level", you should know what it feels like to work at a heart rate of 120-150 BPM for 20-40 mins. Like really working out, not just chillin'.
Otherwise, yeah, it'll kick your tail but that's what it's about.
All CrossFit workouts can be "scaled" for your ability. If you can't lift as much weight as is prescribed, or can't do a pullup, or whatever, don't worry about it. The trainers are there to help you succeed at whatever level you can, and hopefully improve over time.
You should check it out, for sure. Don't be afraid. You won't regret it!0 -
Thanks! There is really no reason why I can't....I am very strong and am not afraid of hard work. I think what is drawing me to it is that extra push that I don't know how to give myself in the gym. I will look into the lite classes....though they usually don't fit well into my crazy schedule. I think I will give it a go....can't hurt to try it once or twice. How long do the sessions typically last?0

Crossfit looks like something I would really enjoy as well but it doesnt look safe when it comes to lifting and doing as many reps as possible in a certain amount of time. I watched numerous video's and the participants form looked terrible.0
