I think my body is getting use to the workouts I am doing throughout the week. Does anyone have any suggestions of workouts I can do to mix things up?

    What are you doing now?
  • Right now I walk a few miles during my lunch break, just started the 30 day Shred, Just Dance on Wii, play Tennis some days when the weather is nice, was doing Insanity until my knee started giving me problems, walk on the treadmill, and a few cardio workouts I find online.

You can certainly 'top out' on benefits from easy going low impact exercise like walking and wii. You will burn calories as you are expending effort.

It might just be time to do something a little more exciting. Do you have a treadmill, or belong to a gym? I highly recommend spin class.
  • I have a treadmill at home in my basement. Also, I have been thinking about taking a spin class.

Try strength training with free weights. SL 5X5 is a good program for beginner lifters.

There is no reason to change your workout to "confuse" your body. What you need to do is up the intensity. With free weights this means upping the weight. SL does this for you by doing a progressive load of +5 lbs everytime you go to workout.

Up the ante... Run faster or longer. Lift heavier.

you NEED strength training -- incorporate it 2-3 days a week.

Increase resistance or duration. Or both.

Also, try grunting. All the really buff peeps do it.
  • Now when I do strength training, will I also do cardio in the same day? I am new to this so I really all the help I can get. Thanks everyone!
  • Can anyone give me some exercises I can do at home with free weight and bands?
  • They do say you should do walking one day, strength training another day and so on. It's best to do a different type of exercise each day to get a better benefit from it. Good luck to you.
