Any advice for helping lose back fat? Any specific exercises I should be doing?

Trying to get rid of it around my waist area in the back as well as right in the back behind my arms. TIA

Unfortunately I think it's about lowering overall BF% and building up the muscles back there. I have it too :(

I believe there are some specific exercises to help you build muscle in those areas but to actually get rid of the fat in those areas you have to get rid of your overall body fat. I have heard that from just about everywhere including a friend of mine who helps ppl train and is currently working on her personal training certification.
  • Yea, Guess I just have to keep working to lose the extra fat everywhere. Thanks!

I was told pull ups and lat pull downs I am trying them both because I have the same problem. It really gets on my nerve cause it will not go anywhere.

I hate mine. I was thinking of going swimming - I'm hoping that a bit of breast stroke will help tone it up.

On the 30 Day Shred Jillian says the dumbell rows are for back fat.

You stand with your feet hip-width apart and sink down, and then pull in and out with weights, pinching your shoulders together at the back as if you're rowing a boat - hope that makes sense! If you do them properly they're nice and painful! :grumble:

I hate that we can't spot reduce, but I've heard and been doing lat pull downs, dumbell rows, push ups, or rowing machines (the cardio one or weighted one). I'm sure these are only a few... But I'm working on my back fat too!!!

I have it too!! it is slowley getting a little smaller, but still pretty bad. I have always been self contious about it when wearing shirts. I have been walking, done the 30 Day Shred and Ripped in 30.
  • Years ago I tried the kick-boxing videos at home and really enjoyed them. I would like to start back into those in the near future. Something like that works all the muscles and burns the fat. Are you currently involved in something like that with your regular routine? You look great but I understand your concern. I have that battle as well and it is quite noticable since I am flat on the back side (my behind). I have nothing to draw attention away from it 8~(
  • I have been doing Lat pull downs so thats good I guess. I dont do any kickboxing or anything like that. Right Now I am doing 30DS and I add in some running on the treadmill everyday as well as some extra strength training on the machines.
